Dunbar, Dan L.
passed away in his home Friday, May 17, 2024 at the age of 93. Born to Daniel and Helen Dunbar, he married Peggy (predeceased) and for 66 years they were rarely apart. Dan loved his many dogs and was an avid hunter, fisher, and world traveler with Peggy. He was an active tennis player and swimmer throughout his life. Dan loved to tell the story of swimming 22 miles down the Mississippi River from Alton to the Eads bridge when he was 20 years old. He was an adoring grandfather and taught his grandchildren shuffleboard, swimming, tennis and Old Maid. He is survived by his children Daniel B. and Kim (Eric Christner), and grandchildren Collin (Lilia), Tyler, and Audrey Christner. He will be greatly missed. Dan and Peggy were great clients of mine over the years. I enjoyed working for them and seeing them at the hardware store and bank on occasion. My condolences to the family for your loss. Dan was a great person, and will be missed.
