Daniel Collins Obituary

Collins, Daniel G. passed away in the care of family and the comfort of his home on October 3rd, 2015. He was 64 years old. Dan was diagnosed with Cancer (Chondrosarcoma) in 2011, and battled the disease with a fierce persistence and positive spirit for nearly five years. Dan was a grounded, intelligent and sharp-witted man. After graduating from Kirkwood High School in 1969, Dan earned degrees in Mathematics from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and an MBA from Washington University, St. Louis. Dan had a keen interest and successful career in finance and wealth management, working in St. Louis and San Francisco for many years before retirement. Dan was an avid traveler, golfer and sports fan, but in recent years, he most enjoyed the antics and companionship of his Treeing Walker Coonhound, Lucy. Dan was the loving son of Gilbert and Mabel Collins (both deceased). Dan is survived by his sisters, Nancy Parsons and Gail Smith (and husband Henry T. Smith), his devoted nephew and friend Kevin Smith, nieces Julie Miller, Beth Parsons Orlando and Lynne Smith, as well as his sweet hound dog, Lucy. Contributions in Dan's memory can be made to the Sarcoma Research Fund at Siteman Cancer Center at Washington University, Division of Oncology, PO Box 8007, 600 S. Dan was one of my closest friends in high school. We went our own ways for a long time, but we reconnected in the last few years. My condolences go out to his family and to all who were privileged to know him.

Dan, May you rest in peace, my friend. I hope the fairways are wide and the greens are smooth up there. You will be missed by many down here.
