Wiber, David Earle
David Earle Wiber has left the building. The curtain came down on August 1, 2022 at his home in Ballwin, Missouri. Unfortunately, he was only 95. "It pains me to admit it, but apparently, I have passed away. Everyone told me that it would happen one day but that is simply not something I
wanted to hear, much less
experience!"
I was born on May 18, 1927.
I enjoyed one good life. Traveled to every place on earth that I ever wanted to go and eaten everything I wanted to eat. A lifelong St. Louis Blue's fan and frequently offered advice on how to run the team. He was the number one fan of "The Joy of Painting" with Bob Ross. Didn't miss one episode. He also loved White Castle hamburgers, afternoon naps in his recliner, eating gumdrops by the handful and watching endless hours of YouTube. He was a connoisseur of pineapple upside-down cake, bread pudding with custard sauce, butter pecan ice-cream, ham salad and pork chops!
While a necessity in his youth growing up during the Depression, this passion of being frugal was carried throughout his whole life. The biggest challenge was actually finding the butter in his refrigerator with 15 containers of leftovers that all looked the same.
He took pride in serving in the Navy on the U.S.S. Beaver ARG-19 and on March 30, 1945 transferred to the U.S.S. Bremerton CA130. His travels took him to China, Japan, Guam, Manila and Pearl Harbor. Served 18 months U.S. Navy...attended Culver-Stockton College, married in 1950, had two children David Dale and Jill Ann and has three grandsons and two great-grandsons. He worked 38 years for Swift Packing Company, 20 years in charge of livestock procurement for 2 plants. Has been retired for 40 years. Enjoyed RV traveling and ballroom/round dancing with the love of his life is wife Marilyn.
He is survived by his son David Dale Wiber of Ballwin, MO, daughter Jill Petrovic (Frank) of Barnhart, MO. His three grandsons; Paul (Lynsey Snyder) Petrovic of Louisville, Ohio, Scott Petrovic, Kirkwood, MO and John Petrovic, Louisville, Ohio. His two great-grandsons Easton 10 and Case 6 of Louisville, Ohio.
His wife Marilyn has been patiently waiting three years for him to join her at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetary in St. Louis, MO. They have a lot to catch up on.
Preceding David in death were his older sisters Alice Wessel and Shirley Merkle.
So...I was born; I blinked; and it was over. No buildings named after me; no monuments erected in my honor. I'll leave you with this...please don't cry because I'm gone; instead be happy that I was here.
My family is following my wishes that I not have a funeral or burial. If you knew me, remember me in your own way. "If you want to live forever, then don't stop breathing, like me!"

I didn't know Dave, but after reading his obituary, wish I had. Condolences to all he left behind.

I remember the kids, David and Jill, from those innocent childhood days in the Mathilda-Welmering neighborhood. Your father sounds like he had a good, long life. What more can anyone hope for?
