Luna, Douglas
Doug Paul Luna was born in Yonkers, NY in 1939 and raised in the San Francisco area, attended college at UC-Berkeley, and was commissioned into the US Navy, serving on the aircraft carrier, USS Ranger. After discharge, he worked for Wells Fargo Bank in CA and earned his MBA. He attended the U. of Hawaii School of Architecture, then worked for Architects Hawaii. He later served as a DoD civilian architect in the Pacific area before being transferred to Scott AFB, Il. Doug was a steadfast benefactor of the Smithsonian Institution, particularly the Natl Air & Space Museum. Following retirement from the DoD, Doug continued to live in Belleville and did some private architectural work while he coordinated care for his 107-year-old mom and designed plans to build his dream house in Hawaii. He passed away in Honolulu in Oct 2022. Doug was buried with full military honors at Arlington Natl Cemetery on April 4, 2024. He was predeceased by: his father, decorated hero Henry "Chick" Luna; mother, Virginia Dieter Luna; sister, Jane Euler.
