Earl Dilthey Obituary

Dilthey, Earl Ervin 81, of Indianapolis passed away December 17, 2012. He was born July 20, 1931 in St. Louis, MO to the late Earl John and Gertrude Mildred (Bollyn) Dilthey. Earl received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He loved his church and he enjoyed teaching Sunday school and serving as an Elder and Deacon. Earl lived a life filled with family, friends and laughter. He openly shared a tender heart and a steadfast devotion to those in his life. He was an avid Mizzou fan, and since moving to Indianapolis, a Butler fan as well. He lived life with a smile and left a smile on those whose life he touched. Earl was preceded in death by a son, David Earl Dilthey. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife of 59 1/2 years Martha (Buschart) Dilthey; children, Mary Dilthey-Griggs (Rick), Diane Brandt (Will) of Washington D.C. and Barbara Dilthey of Lake Worth, FL; grandchildren, 2nd Lieutenant Sara and Kelsey Brandt and Hannah and Josh Griggs. Services: A Memorial Gathering will be held Friday, December 21, at 2pm at Second Presbyterian Church 7700 North Meridian Street with a memorial calling one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to University of Missouri-Columbia Chancellor's Fund for Excellence 109 Reynolds Alumni Center Columbia, MO 65211 and the American Diabetes Association, and Wounded Warriors Project. Arrangements entrusted to Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park North

Sorry to hear of Uncle Earl's death. I remember him as child when my dad, Ralph was still alive. I also remember going to "Big" Earl's and Aunt Millie's with Grandma Sarilda! My thoughts and prayers are with you Aunt Jean and family.

Earl and I were fellow Lambda Chi Alpha Brothers at Mizzou in the early 1950s.

I have not seen Earl in recent years with
our meetings at Columbia. My thoughts are with his family and we recall what we did together at MIZZOU.
