Edward Baur Obituary

Edward "Tee" Turner Baur, 78, of St. Louis, MO and Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on July 8, 1946, in St. Louis. Tee was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend. He was the son of Andrew & Florence Baur and brother to Drew, Jimmy and his twin sister, Barbara. He married the love of his life, Michele Forte Baur in 1968, and together they raised three children: Turner, Carson & Hadley. Tee attended St. Louis Country Day School before enrolling in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At UNC, he played soccer, participated in NROTC, and was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity where he forged lifelong friendships. After serving as a supply officer in the Navy stationed in Adak, Alaska, he & Shellie returned to St. Louis. Tee was a well-respected, successful commercial developer for decades and served his community in numerous ways from advisory councils to boards to mentoring future generations. His kindness, generosity and genuine interest in others impacted so many for the better.

He enjoyed competitive athletics, the outdoors, especially hiking & e-biking in Whitefish and watching for the green flash during Naples' sunsets, volleyball at 29 Overhills, golf, paddle tennis, swimming, dancing and music. Most of all, Tee was a man of faith and he treasured his time with family which included 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild!

Tee is preceded in death by his father, Andrew H. Baur; his mother, Florence N. Baur; brothers Andrew N. Baur & James A. Baur. He is survived by his wife, Michele Baur; his children- Turner, Carson (Martha), and Hadley; 11 grandchildren- Trey (Kit) Baur, Taylor Baur, Peyton Baur, Griffin Baur, Jane Baur, Anna Scott Baur, Bennett Baur, Sloane Laughlin, Hunter Laughlin, Miller Laughlin, and Bates Laughlin; and 1 great-grandchild, Blair Baur.

Tee's family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love & support during this difficult time. He will forever be in our hearts.

A family burial will be held immediately, and a Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring of 2025 in St. Louis. Updates will be provided in the future.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Tee's honor to: Commemorative Air Force Missouri Wing, 6390 Grafton Ferry Rd., Portage Des Sioux, MO 63373. www.cafmo.org or Honor Health Foundation/Pancreatic Cancer Research, 8125 N. Tee was on my board when I was president of Maryville University of St. Louis. We enjoyed a great relationship and friendship. He would send me tickets to the Cardinals baseball games, and for the opening game of the season at the new Busch Stadium, he invited me to be his guest for the private dinner. And then, instead of watching from the private box, we sat behind third base. Wow! That was Tee Baur. A gentleman if ever there was one, a wise mentor, and just about the most elegant and decent man I have ever known. Marsha and I grieve his loss, but will always be inspired y the life he lived.
