Emily Helen Somogyi

Emily Helen Somogyi, 96, died 28 Aug 2024 in Creve Coeur, MO. She was born 8 Sep 1927 in St. Louis, MO. She was the daughter of Emerick Somogyi and Maria Untenecker, immigrants from Austria to St. Louis in the 1920's. Emily worked at Rystix clothing, sometimes working as a model, and then for many years at Bussman Fuse as an assembler. Emily was gentle of heart and loving to her family. Her nieces and nephews fondly recall playing cards and assembling puzzles with her when they came to visit. She was a faithful parishioner at St. Joseph's Manchester, MO. Millie was a very uncomplicated person. She loved taking walks, cleaning the yard and scrubbing down the house. She gave you a smile every time she saw you. After her father's death in 1953 she and her sister Anna formed a household with her step mother Rose to help raise their very younger brother Frank. Later after Rose died and Frank moved away she and her sister Anna lived together. Not having a car, they were a common sight in the neighborhood walking everywhere. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters and brother: Mary (Charles) Coello, Elizabeth (Charles) Vogel, Anna and Frank Somogyi, Step mother Rose (Buxbaum) Somogyi, Nephews Robert Coello and William Somogyi. She is survived by her sister-in-law Mary (Senftle) Somogyi and Niece Magda (Dechant) Coello. Her nieces and nephews: Kenneth Somogyi, Rebecca (Benjamin) Logsdon, and Austin Somogyi, Great Nieces and Nephews: Laura (Jerry) Kirk, Joseph (Danielle) Coello, Lucas Logsdon, Abigail, Caleb and Louis Somogyi, Kody Haslag: Great-Great nieces and nephews: Connor and Carson Jones, Lillie and Charlie Coello, and Kylie Haslag. Mass of Remembrance will be held at Incarnate Word Catholic Church, on Olive, in Creve Coeur, MO at 11 am on 5 October 2024. Emily donated her body to St Louis University Medical School. There will be a cenotaph at Calvary Cemetery, St. Louis, MO. If you wish to help the poor, a donation in Emily's name to the St. Vincent De Paul Society at Incarnate Word would be very appreciated.
