I hadn't seen Gary in over 20 years. What a loss not to have seen him one more time. His incredible mind and truly remarkable sense of humor left a lifelong impression on me.

To all who knew and loved our Gary,
Gary was my uncle, my mentor, and my friend. At one time, he was like a father to me. He believed in me when no one else did, and helped me to find a path. We are also very shocked at his sudden passing. We all depended on him to guide us in our own lives and make the right decisions for the family. He spent two weekends a month caring for his elderly parents. And the rest of his time... Well, only now are we really learning about Gary. He was a photographer. He took dance lessons, taught himself home improvement, read only non-fiction, and loved classic rock and roll. Perhaps I could have learned that from him if I'd had more time with him... or if I'd taken the time that I had to know him. When we were close, he offered to give me a room in his house to raise my baby until I got on my feet. He made the same offer to my sister. He was an honest and noble man. Handsome and funny. He would have been a wonderful father. He never stopped going to college because he wanted to know everything there was to know in the world. Gary could have been the president. He could have been a model. And he certainly could have been the patriarch of the family. All I can think is that there was a bigger mission for Gary. Donny was tired of waiting in heaven and he wanted his brother. I didn't get a chance to make amends with Gary after an argument we had two years ago. Instead, we teamed up to help my grandfather without ever having to say "I'm sorry." We didn't say "I love you" either. What a terrible shame to let a person who had such an impact on your life go without saying that!
Gary, I am so sorry to have lost you and not listened to your advice. I can still hear your laugh and see your smile while you goofed around with Danton and Zac. I will always remember you as a man who represented knowledge, strength, and dignity. I love you Gary. We all love you. Till we meet again....
