Gene Niederschmidt Obituary

Niederschmidt, Gene

December 1, 1927 - January 8, 2025

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the age of 97. Beloved husband of the late Viola Niederschmidt (née Martin). Dear father and father-in-law of the late Mark (Carol) Niederschmidt and Debra (Jesse) Kramper. Cherished grandpa of Jaclyn (Troy) Wolverton, Brian (Brandy) Niederschmidt, Andrew (Melissa) Kramper, Bradley (Molly) Kramper and Kelsey Kramper. Dear "Papa Gene" to his thirteen great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Warren (Sylvia) Niederschmidt. Dear brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin and friend of many. By trade, Gene was a photographer and known as the man behind the camera. He proudly served in the US Air Force, Air National Guard and retired from Defense Mapping Agency. In retirement he shared his time volunteering with St. Anthony's Hospital, JB Trail Club, the SCORCC Computer Club and acting as a long-term care ombudsman. In later years Gene spent his time surfing the web, listening to "Alexa" and becoming a devoted Amazon purveyor. Gene's family is forever grateful to the entire Friendship Village (Sunset Hills) community for the camaraderie and compassion that he received under their care. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 10 am until Memorial Mass at 11am at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, 4900 Ringer Rd. In lieu of flowers, to honor the memory of Gene, family would appreciate memorial donations made to USO (secure.uso.org). You are always loved and will be greatly missed.
