Petzall, Gerhard J.
On August 12, 2025, Gerhard J. Petzall passed away at the age of 94. Born June 13, 1931, to Erich and Stephanie Petzall in Magdeburg, Germany. Gerhard immigrated to the United States as a child and grew up in St. Louis. He obtained his law degree from Washington University in 1958 and practiced law until he retired in 2020.
Gerhard is survived by his wife, Barbara (nee Speraneo); his children, Julie Simpher (Jeff), Jenny Petzall, Gerhard "Guy" Petzall Jr. (Sarah), Erich S. Petzall II (Denise), Grant Schraer (Donna), Diane Haselhorst (Steve); his grandchildren, Jamie, Jacob, Jasper, Ben, Kaya, Kepler, Brent (Autumn), Brooke (AJ), Josephine, Genevieve, Wesley, Samantha (Brian), Jared (Sarah); and his great-grandchildren, Dexter, Calvin, Brody, and Sloane; as well as his beloved dog, Liberty.
Visitation Sunday August 17 at Berger Memorial Chapel, 9430 Olive Blvd. 63132 from 12-1 PM. Funeral Service at 1 PM. Interment Following the Service at United Hebrew Cemetery. Dear Dear Barbara, I am so sorry for your loss. My heart aches for you. I shall always remember with great fondness all those times you and Gerhard and Marsha and I spent over dinner and fine wine, at Cardinal games, Westwood Country Club as your guests and countless other things. Gerhard was a marvelous storyteller and his wine collection was amazing. I admired him and felt honored to be his friend. Marsha and I want you to know that you and your family are in our hearts and thoughts.
