Gregory Goodrich Obituary

Goodrich, Gregory W. 50, of Kirkwood, MO died suddenly August 25, 2010. He was born on Dec. 17, 1959 in Detroit, MI. Most of his childhood was spent in West Bloomfield, MI where he met his future wife, Deanne, and the couple later settled in the St. Louis area. Greg is survived by his wife of 23 years, Deanne Lane; son, Griffin; mother, Pam Goodrich; brother, Gavan (Cindy); brothersin-law, Dave Bellottie (Shawn), Gregory Lane (Daniela), Jeff Lane (Illyse); father-in-law, Ray Lane (Carolyn) and several nieces and nephews whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his father Gordon and his sister Shawn. Mr. Goodrich was well known and respected in the local restaurant, catering and hospitality industry. Greg was a devoted husband and father who cherished his time with family and friends. He was the ultimate, genuine, all around good guy-the kind of person who could crack the best joke, cook the best meal and light up a room with engaging conversation. His favorite pastime was sharing countless hours helping to fulfill Griffin's baseball dreams. He will truly be missed. Contributions can be made in his memory to your favorite charity. Services: Please join the family for visitation to celebrate Greg's life Sunday, Aug. 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at BOPP Chapel, 10610 Manchester Rd., Kirkwood. A small memorial service will be held immediately following. www.boppchapel.com

Deane, Griffin:
Cannot believe twelve years has passed.
I think of Greg often and how we would have grown together in business. One of the few that I worked with that understood my goals and restaurant process.

Dear Deanne:

We are so sorry for your loss. Although we haven't seen you or Greg in quite a while, we have such wonderful memories of family gatherings at the cottage and at each other's homes. Deanne and Griffin,
Words cannot express the sadness that is felt with all of Greg's former employees at the Club at the Scottrade Center (formerly Savvis Ctr.). Greg was a crazy, fun, and wonderful manager, with an infectious laugh and great sense of humor, and we ALL loved working for him.
Several of us were able to attend the visitation, but others were not. I would like to speak for all of the "old" group when I tell you that Greg will be missed and never forgotten. Our hearts are broken, and our deepest sympathy goes out to you, Griffin, and the entire family. The world was lucky to have Greg in it for 50 years, but it's way too soon to lose such a wonderful man.

The image that keeps coming to mind is your wedding reception and Greg sucking on a cigar and grinning! Having just talked to your dad recently (that was a wonderful catch-up), I know all you have been doing for Greg's mom and how he and Gavin took care of Shawn. I'm rambling but I am so stunned I don't know what to say. I am so sad for you and your family, so sad Griffin won't have his dad's physical presence as he moves through life. There are no answers for so much of what life hands us but I believe in God and I believe that Greg was met by Jesus, Shawn and your mom and he's living a new life and he'll alwaysl be laughing and cheering you on. You're in our prayers. We love you, Cathy and David

Take comfort knowing that you have a special guardian angel in heaven watching over you both. Dear Deanne,

May God bless all those effected by the passing of Greg, especially you and Griffin. I had the privilge of getting to know Greg briefly while working under him at the old Marriott's Pavilion hotel in downtown St. Louis while Deanne was working for channel 5. Of all of the supervisors I had that came and went during my years at the hotel, Greg was definitely the easiest one to get along with. I know he will be missed by many.

Our prayers are with you and yours,

Dale Mertz

Deanne,

I lost my best friend Phil under similar circumstances a year ago February. I still miss my friend and his wonderful laugh. I was happy to see the wonderful picture you chose to remember Greg. I will remember his wonderful laugh. And I really remember the laugh when I could not see him, from behind me, across a room, on the other side of Clark's there was no mistaking Greg's laugh. I also remember that you and Greg seemed always to be such a wonderful team, feeding off each other, caring for each other, complementing each other perfectly.

In my view of heaven, my friend Phil greeted Greg with a beer and they shared a laugh over a bad John Magee joke.
