Gregory V. Menke

Menke, Gregory V. age 83, of Fairview Heights, IL, born July 19, 1928, in St. Louis, MO, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at Barnes Jewish Hospital St. Louis, MO. Gregory graduated in 1946 from SLUH, 1952 from Rolla School of Mines with a degree in Civil Engineering, and in 1972 from the University of Chicago with his MBA. Gregory was a proud W.W.II Army Veteran. He retired from Granite City Steel as Superintendent of the Blast Furnace and Primary Operations in 1993. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes T. Menke, (nee Tuberty), whom he married at the St. Louis Cathedral on September 13, 1952. He is survived by his children, Alexis (Michael) Malham, Tim Menke (Sally Grcevich), Mark Menke, Rita Menke (Bob Brown), Steve Menke (Peggy), Sally Tipton (Chuck), Larry Menke, and Betsy Dean; 20 grandchildren; a great grandchild; and a sister. Services: Memorials may be made in the form of masses to Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fairview Heights, IL or St. Clare Catholic Church, O'Fallon, IL or to the donor's choice.
