Gregory Smith Obituary

Smith, Gregory Emil beloved son of James and Mary Smith, died suddenly on Sunday, December 3, 2006 in San Francisco. Gregory was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts on October 20, 1985 and lived his first six years there before moving with his family to Chesterfield, Missouri. Greg completed his first two years of high school at Parkway West where he played on the freshman and JV basketball teams and made many life-long friends. The family moved to San Francisco's Sunset District in 2002 where Greg graduated from Lincoln HS in 2004 before entering San Francisco State University and majoring in Political Science. Greg deeply loved his family, his numerous friends, reggae music, progressive politics and sports. From his early days he remained an ardent fan of the Boston Red Sox. He was always energetic and enthusiastic, giving and loving, and had a very quick wit that kept us all laughing. His early death is an unbearable loss for all who knew him. In addition to his parents, Greg is survived by his older brother, Alexander (Rosemary LaRocca), of Creve Coeur, Missouri; his adoring sister, Natalie, of New York City; his grandmother, Barbara Regan Smith, of San Francisco; his uncles Philip Smith (Marie), John Marzolf (Susie), David Marzolf (Helen); his aunts Rosemary Cardenas (Kenneth), Emily Mainieri (Robert), Joan Funke (Ronald); his two nephews, Aidan and Patrick whom he loved dearly; and his many loving cousins, especially Tom, Chris and Jason.Services: Friends may visit Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend the Vigil service on Sunday at 7 p.m. at DUGGAN'S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City, CA. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. also at Duggan's Serra Mortuary. Burial to follow at Serbian Cemetery, Colma.
