Harry William Tsimpris

Tsimpris, Harry William 79, fell asleep peacefully on March 2, 2008 at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 10, 1929 at St. Joseph Hospital in Alton. His parents were 'Candy Bill' and Dorothy Tsimpris who owned Candy Bill's Candy business for over 50 years in Wood River, Ill. Harry worked in the business for many years making candy and later retired from Warner Lambert Company. He was the beloved husband of thirty years to Catherine Cutsoukos Tsimpris. He was married to the late Elizabeth (Englezou) for 24 years, with whom he had three loving daughters: the late Demetra Staats, Eirene Werts of Jupiter, Fla., and Mariam Campbell of Houston, Tex. Harry has celebrated the lives of four beautiful grandchildren: Stephanie (Dan) Wheeler, Alexa Staats, Andrea Campbell, Cassandra Campbell; and two great grandchildren, Gabriel and Zachary Wheeler. He is also survived by a brother, Dr. Constantine (Daphne) Tsimpris of Richmond, Va. and sister-in-law Maria Cutsoukos; and was brother-in-law to the late Alex and sister-in-law Patricia Cutsoukos and friend to many. Catherine wants to thank all the caring doctors and nurses at Alton Memorial Hospital. A special thank-you to Julie, Mary Ann and Sue at the St. Anthony's Oncology Outpatient Services. He was a lifetime member of AAEPAHe was a US Army veteran in Korea from 1950-1952.Services: Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at PAYNIC HOME for Funerals, 618 East Airline Drive in East Alton, Ill., with a Trisagion service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m.,Thursday. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, Ill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund, 4967 Forest Park Ave., St. Louis, MO 63108.
