I first met Mr. and Mrs. Bakewell in the late 1950's. I was Claudie (as they called him) tennis doubles pardner. I spent wonderful times staying at their home. I traveled all over the United States playing tennis with Claude. Mr. Bakewell joined us many times to watch us play. The Bakewell family had a great influence on my life. Both on the tennis court and more inmportantly off it. I stayed in contact with the Bakewells after Claude's death in college. I last visited with Mrs. Bakewell about 13 years ago and she was able to meet my wife and youngest son. She will be missed, but, not forgotten. I know my picture was up on the wall with Claude's on that big collage in her home.
My love and thoughts go out to all her family and friends.

Aunt Sis holds a beautiful spot in my heart. I loved her saying "He is so ATTRACTIVE". One of my fondest memories was when the Farmer Brown family met Sophisicated Aunt Sis at the Asheville Airport in our overalls.
I loved her sense of humor and love for her family, especially her siblings.
Rest in Peace, Aunt Sis

I was not fortunate to meet Mrs Bakewell, but my niece (Martina Singleton) and mother (Cora Williams) worked for and knew her. I am sure she will be greatly missed.

I was very fortunate to have known Helene, and her husband Claude, starting when I was originally @ the Boatman' National Bank many years ago(now I'm @ Commerce Trust Co),along with her niece, May Brown Reay. She was the epitome of a gracious Lady,an active individual who was involved in many worthwhile activities and endeavors, always having the utmost pride and love for her Family-May she rest in peace forever in God's Heavenly Kingdom.

Dear, wonderful Sis was my good and wise friend for many years. She encouraged me, comforted me, and was always understanding. Though I haven't lived in St. Louis for more than 12 years, I have thought of her often. May, she loved you dearly, and I know you are broken hearted to lose her. I send prayers and condolences.
