Urvoaz Farrell, Hélène
May 9, 1970 - September 11, 2025
Hélène Catherine Urvoaz Farrell, a twenty-year resident of the Central West End neighborhood of St. Louis, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025 following an extended struggle with stage four breast cancer.
Hélène was born in Saint-Denis, France on May 9, 1970. Except for a five-year period during her early youth when she and her family resided in Belgium, Hélène grew up in Saint-Leu-la-Forêt, France (a suburb outside of Paris).
After obtaining her law degree and completing bar school, Hélène became a member of the Paris Bar in 1996. She began her legal career as an associate in the Paris office of Baker & McKenzie LLP, an international law firm headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. While at Baker & McKenzie, Hélène worked under the supervision of Christine Lagarde, who later went on to become the global head of Baker & McKenzie, the French Minister of Finance, the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund and the President of the European Central Bank (a position she still holds today).
In 2000, Hélène left Baker & McKenzie to assume the role of in-house counsel at a series of different companies, with her most recent position being that of Legal Director (Europe, Middle East, Africa and South America) for Energizer Holdings, Inc.
Hélène emigrated to St. Louis following her marriage to David D. Farrell on March 26, 2005.
In 2013, Hélène retired from Energizer so that she could focus her time and attention toward raising the couple's son and only child, George G. Farrell Urvoaz, who was born on November 6, 2007. Hélène was a tireless volunteer and supporter of her son's school activities, having embraced a variety of different roles, including chair of a major fundraiser event, parent class representative, part-time French teacher and soccer coach. Hélène brought her unique style, creativity and spirit to each of these roles.
Utilizing her exceptional culinary skills, Hélène was always the consummate hostess, making her home a source of great conviviality and lasting memories for family and friends alike.
Hélène is survived by her husband (David), son (George), her father (Gilbert Urvoaz), her sister (Frédérique Urvoaz), her nieces (Marie Le Roux and Gaëlle Le Roux), her nephews (Teddy Farrell, Will Farrell and Christopher Heller), her sisters-in-law (Lisa Heller and Mary Farrell), her brothers-in-law (Mark Farrell and John Heller) and a strong collection of close friends. Helene was preceded in death by her mother, Françoise Urvoaz (nee Jenneau).
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Lupton Millard Chapel, 7233 Delmar Blvd. St. Louis, MO. 63130 and will be immediately followed by a memorial ceremony beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the same location.
A private interment for family will take place at Bellefontaine Cemetery.
Hélène's family would like to express its deep gratitude to Dr. Cynthia Ma, Nurse Practitioner Susan Hays, Dr. Omar Butt, Dr. Joshua Osbun, Dr. Patrick White, Dr. Vicky Fraser, Dr. Imran Sobari, Dr. Joann Yang, Dr. Katherine Weilbaecher, Dr. Shari Cohen and all of the incredible healthcare providers at BJC Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine who helped ensure that Hélène received the very best medical care.
