Henry Clever Obituary

Clever Jr., Dr. Henry W. 88, of St. Charles passed away Monday, November 06, 2017 at his residence. He was born September 4, 1929 in St. Louis, a son of Dr. Henry W. and Cecilia (nee Suren) Clever Sr. He married the love of his life, Roseann Reeb in 1956. Surviving are his wife of 61 wonderful years, Roseann Clever; 11 children, Roseann Missy (Dave) Ogden, Dr. Henry W. (Dorie) Clever III, Gerry Deken, Richard (Vicky) Clever, Cathy Clever, Marguerite (Tim) Stewart, Madeleine (Dan) Appelbaum, Maria (Rick) Hill, Russ (Julie) Clever, Elizabeth (Pete) Hogan, and Paul (Katie) Clever; 43 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Cecilia Parchomski; two sisters-in-law, Maureen Clever and Martha Johnson; and numerous other extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Dolores Rose, one brother, Dr. Victor Clever, father and mother in-law, Mandus and Gertrude Reeb, daughter-in-law, Ronda Clever, sisters-in-law, Lois Williams and Sara Pausky, and brothers-in-law, Tom Parchomski and Russell Reeb. Dr. Clever was a loving patriarch to his family, a treasured confidant to his friends, a zealous supporter of the community and a tireless advocate for those whose voices often go unheard. Dr. Clever was past Chief of Staff at SSM St. Joseph Hospital. He was one of the first pediatricians in St. Charles where he practiced for 35 years. He cared deeply for his patients and their families and had a great listening ability and bedside manner. He was a member of The Order of The Holy Sepulchre, The St. Charles Serra Club Deanery, and was a longtime member of St. Cletus Catholic Parish where he was active with the Pro Life committee. He was involved with the Archdiocesan ACA, Finance Committee, and various other committees. He was the first lay president of the Archdiocesan School Board. He was actively involved with Community Living Inc. where they named the Support Services for Adults the Clever Center in his name. He was instrumental with helping pass Senate Bill 40 in 1999. He served on the Board of Developmental Disability Resource, State Mental Health Board, University of Missouri Medical Alumni Board, he was honored as Man of the Year by St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, and was the recipient of numerous civic awards. He actively volunteered and helped fundraising for Birthright, St. Charles and was often asked to be the Pro-Life speaker to various groups in St. Charles County and surrounding counties. He served on the Advisory Board for the Academy of the Sacred Heart and Duchesne High School. Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017 at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 2705 Zumbehl Rd., St. Charles, MO. Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Baue Funeral Home 620 Jefferson St. St. Charles, MO 63301. Entombment will be in Our Lady Cemetery and Mausoleum in Lake St. Louis. Well done Hank! I go back to High School and college We studied together, socialized together, played sports (tennis) together. I considered him the best of friends. I am his age and use a walker. Therefore I will not come to his funeral but will offer Mass
for the repose of a truly great man, friend, and Catholic. My deepest sympathy!
