I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. Please find peace and comfort in Psalms 119:76.

We knew Jim for over a decade as he worked with Dave at Monsanto. Jim was more than a colleague; he was a real friend. He took us to the Ambassadors of Harmony concert to introduce us to one of his musical passions: barbershop. He often had barbershop music playing while he worked, and he followed the international barbershop competitions avidly. And he supported others in their musical ventures, showing up for vocal performances by a young co-worker, and even came to our son's orchestra concerts.
Jim's generosity showed itself in so many ways. He was a mentor to the younger technicians at Monsanto, taught computer skill classes for the elderly, and, into his 70's, was still the person to call for help when friends and family were moving. And he always brought us a panettone for Christmas, and made sure he got the best, asking the owner to get the good ones from the back.
Jim, an electrical engineer, spent the last decade of his career doing chemistry and catalysis and ended up co-designing and building spray characterization systems, automated stirred reactors and even catalytic reactors for E85 cars. He was fearless that way. Late in life he found himself working with hydrogen and peroxide and high pressures, and was never discouraged, always safe, and always game for the next idea.
It's a rare and precious thing to be given the gifts of trust and kindness and joy Monday through Friday for over ten years. We are better people for knowing Jim, and will truly miss him.
