What sad, sad news. After my dad had been transferred to St. Louis, my parents fortunately bought a house on Portland Terrace and I was an 8-going-on-9-year-old kid in Webster Groves who was lucky enough to live next door to the greatest neighbors in the world, Jeanne & Jim Perabo. Jeanne & Jim were the neighborhood favorites and my heart is heavy upon learning this shocking news of Jeanne's sudden passing. Jeanne was indeed beloved by many but particularly those of us growing up inspired by her kindness toward us kids and her sense of fun that she and Jim so generously shared with the neighborhood, young and old alike. They were the "cool" go-to neighbors and in the early '60s on Portland Terrace, that meant a lot! My heartfelt condolences to Jeanne's handsome husband Jim and their much loved, young smart and successful son Jim.

Jeanne was one of the nicest people I've ever met. Worked in the same building with her at 7838 Big Bend many years ago. My sympathy to her husband and son.
