Jim Hardin Obituary

Hardin, Jim

April 6, 1958 - February 19, 2025

James "Jim" Hardin passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, after battling glioblastoma with remarkable courage, bravery, and grace.

He leaves behind his beloved wife and best friend of 39 years, Mary Pat Hardin, whose partnership and love were his greatest joys. He is survived by his children: Abby Musial (Tyler) of Saint Louis, Stuart Hardin (Carla Lopez) of Albuquerque, and George Hardin of Colorado Springs; his cherished grandchildren Rosemary and Henry Musial; and his siblings Sue Wood, Clifford Jr., Cynthia Milligan, and Nancy Rogers. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Martha Hardin.

A graduate of the University of Virginia and Washington University (JD/MBA), Jim built a distinguished career in banking with his most recent position at JP Morgan where clients became friends drawn to his integrity and wisdom.

Those fortunate to know Jim will forever remember his eloquent and humorous Christmas letters, made-to-order martinis, passion for history (most notably Winston Churchill), and gift for conversation that elevated every gathering. An avid entertainer, Jim was happiest hosting his family and friends while dressed to the nines. Jim approached life with unwavering optimism, humor, and warmth.

A memorial service celebrating Jim's remarkable life will be held on March 1, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church in Webster Groves, MO. Visitation will precede services at 9 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Louis Shakespeare Festival (stlshakes.org) to honor Jim's memory.

Mary Pat, I just found out about Jim´s passing. I am so sorry for your loss. Jim was the best person I ever worked with and one of the best and definitely the smartest individuals I ever met. He made our entire floor smile everyday. I remember when he would talk about you at work, you could tell by the look on his face how much he loved you. I will be praying for you and your family.
