John Keely

1957 - 2024

John J. Keely (1957-2024) , fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024 from complications related to COPD. John was a graduate of Christ the King Parish School and DeSmet Jesuit High School. He lived most of his life in St. Louis, Missouri and worked most of his career in sales.

John was preceded in death by his loving parents, Robert J. Keely, Jr. and Margaret Mooney Keely, and his brother Robert J. Keely III. He is survived by his cherished son, Bobby Keely; brothers Tom and Joe (Anne); sisters Maggie Foley and Mary (Rob) Novak; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and long-time friends, in particular Rick Nielsen and Frank Baxendale.

John never met a stranger and will be remembered for his gregarious personality, quick wit and desire to make those around him laugh. John was the guy to call when you were in need of help. He was always there to lend a hand. Being part of the kind, loving Keely family gave John true comfort and peace at the end of his life, but his greatest joy was his son, Bobby. They were not only father and son, but also best friends.

The family will hold a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery on December 14th at 11:00. Please meet at the entrance to Calvary Cemetery at 10:50 to be escorted to the gravesite. A memorial Mass to follow at a later date.
