I grew up spending a great deal of time with the Luby family as a close friend of their daughter, Angie. We shared many sleepovers, and I always felt like part of the family—especially when they affectionately called me “Little Ang.” Big John was constantly joking, and his playful teasing made everyone feel welcomed and included. While I am deeply saddened by the loss of such a joyful and happy soul, I take comfort in knowing he is now in the arms of our Lord, experiencing perfect love and the greatest joy.

John and I shared an aunt, from different sides of our families. The Luby family would come to Illinois to visit the relatives and it was always a great time for all of us "cousins." Even though I was NOT a real cousin to John. We had a good visit in May at his cousin Mary's 95th Birthday celebration and enjoyed sharing memories from the past. May he rest in peace and may the wonderful memories his family treasures bring comfort and peace.

To the family of John Luby I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with John at Cave Springs. I believe for Schnucks. He was always happy had a quick witted joke. If he had a bad day, he never showed it. There was something else I didn’t realize but that he graduated from CBC and I did too as well. I wish I would’ve known. Rest in peace my fellow cadet you will be missed.
