Joseph Sooter Obituary

Sooter, Joseph L

March 9, 1958 - April 15, 2025

Joseph L. Sooter, Jr (father, brother, uncle, grandfather) passed away on April 15, 2025 with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his son, Lee Sooter, daughter Marjorie (Clay) Brigance, sister Cindy Wolk, niece Paige Wolk, partner Heidi Israel and grandsons Jonah and Isaac.

Joe was born in Coalinga, CA on March 9, 1958. He graduated from Parkway West High School in 1976 and attended college at the University of Missouri-Columbia receiving his degree in Business in 1980. He later furthered his education at St. Louis University where he received his MBA. He was employed by numerous banks in Dallas, North Carolina and St. Louis for 40+ years in a variety of management capacities. Joe loved his banking career, making lifelong friends and strong business relationships throughout the years.

He was an avid fitness enthusiast, dedicated to daily workouts since high school. He inherited his father's love of sports, following the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues every season. He was also a long-time reptile enthusiast, admiring snakes, turtles, frogs since he was a child. But what put a smile on his face like none other was spending time with family. His face transformed whenever he saw either of his grandsons.

Services: Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 21 at Chesterfield Presbyterian Church, 15037 Clayton Road followed immediately by memorial service at 11:00 a.m.

I was Joe´s friend and barber for over twenty years. Joe usually liked the last appointment of the day so we could grab a beer afterwards. We discussed everything you could think of . I will miss those times Joe was a great person . He was always willing to give a helping hand to someone in need .
