(nee Hubbs) took her last breath on August 13, 2022, at the age of 89. She was a kind, caring and gentle woman - unless provoked!

Joyce was the former wife of the late Wilbur Volker. At the time of her death, she and Joseph Ruebel, Jr. had been married for over 40 years. Together with Joe they parented Catherine Volker (Phillip) Grillo, David (Joy) Volker, Amy Volker (Joseph) Fischer, Jay (Aryn Williams) Ruebel and Amy Ruebel (Chris Evans). Joyce was also a doting and attentive grandmother and great-grandmother.

Although trained as a Registered Nurse, Joyce's favorite job was Company Manager at the Repertory Theater of St. Louis, a position she held for twenty-two years. She never missed an opening night or a chance to comment on the play, the plot, the set, the lighting the costumes, the direction (nice Steve!) or the players (you can do no wrong Joneal!).

She also loved to travel to New York, Paris, London or other venues to see what was going on in their theaters. Joyce and Joe also owned and operated Blackburn Antiques.

Joyce was cremated. Services are private. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
