I want to extend my condolences to Kathleen's family. I had the pleasure of being in Mary's class in 1975. And working with Kathleen at CID in 1989. I bumped into Kathleen at my oldest son's school Carrolton before they tore it down. She will be deeply missed.

Dear Mike, Janet and the entire Macauley family, Dale and are so saddened to here of your loss and are sorry that we missed the mass on Saturday. I did not hear about Kathleen's passing until Saturday night and am sick that I missed it. KK (as Tyler & Paige knew her by) was such a joy to know, always smiling and great with the kids. My sister, Laura, was the one who called me and was also saddened by your loss. Having just lost our mom we know the void that is left, but we also believe that with time the memories of the happiness she brought to the lives of everyone she touched will live on through all of you. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

My deepest condolences goes to Kathleen Macauley's family entirely. Kathleen was my houseparent at CID and we've known each other for a long time. However, sadly, I have not seen her in more than 6 years and unfortunately I will never be able to see her again since she departed.

Kathy, as I knew her, was my next door neighbor and best friend as a child. We would jump on the trampoline, play in the sandbox or simply climb trees. What a great friend. I am so sorry to hear about her passing and extend my sympathy to the family.

Memories have been flooding back to me these last few days about Kathleen. CID memories like; Lois’ fried chicken on Sunday nights in the school cafeteria-we would rush over, trying to beat KK and the boys to be first in line, or watching her fuss over those boys and giving them a stern talking to when they needed it or a hug when that was what was needed. Endless houseparent meetings where we all talked about the joys and frustrations of being a houseparent and the balancing act of parenting when you’re really not the parent. I remember field trips to all the high spots in St. Louis and KK trying to make our 20th trip to someplace exciting…as if it were the first time we’d been there. I remember the day the Macauley men moved KK and I out of the dorm and into the apartment we shared for nearly 2 years. Planning our trip to England was a wonderful time as we worked hard to balance what each of us wanted to do and see. We had so much fun on that trip and “Mind the Gap” became our motto. My fondest memories though, were times spent over a glass of soda (me) and a cup of coffee (KK) whether it be at Barnes & Knoble, Starbucks, Bread Co, or just the kitchen table, talking about life. I will miss you KK and will see you again some day. God Bless

It is sad to hear that Kathleen has departed this life. We are certain she is in a better place and so thankful for all of the good things she did here. She was houseparent for our son Arthur, only 4 when he joined CID and her relationship with him was surely a positive part of his growth into the young adult he is today. Our sincere condolences to Kathleen's family for she is sorely missed.

The Steve and Debbie Timko family would like to express our deepest sympathies to Kathleen's entire family. We have such fond memories of Kathleen, when she served as houseparent at CID to student, Arthur Carroll. She was so generous to give up an occasional Christmas holiday to accompany him overseas so that he could spend time with his parents.

I wanted to add a little bit more to Kathleen as I felt I was too rushed out of remembering her...I later thought more about Kathleen and what a BIG SIGH of relief it was lipreading her when I approached her at Moog! What a great personality she had and I truly enjoyed her company! She was a real special member of your family and I am truly saddened by your loss...

To all the family
What I know most about Kathleen is how much she loved her family, and such a very dear place she held in her heart for all her nieces and nephews. I believe she will still be in the stands or on the sidelines cheering for you, whether it be basketball, polo, soccer, baseball, volleyball, hockey....She is now continuing her journey, and praying for you in a new special way each day. My care is for all of you.
Thank you Mary Jane Lane

I remember having long conversations about ideas and plans while sitting out on our fire escape at our dorms. She and I had bonded closely over our mutual appreciation to Elton John. Once, when she came back from a concert, she had brought home a t-shirt and a cd for me. She will be sorely missed and forever remembered by us dorm boys.

Kathleen was a wonderful, funny, sweet person that I have ever known. She was the houseparents at CID and there was many great stories about those time. Yes, Kathleen was an awfully funny person and an EASY lipreader! We lived so close by each other and she was a great neighbor near our old home area and also at The Moog Center for Deaf Education during the After Care hours picking up Caroline! What a great person I got to know for such a short time during the years at Moog circa 2005 through 2009!

I worked with Kathleen at CID back in the late 80's and early 90's. She was one of the funniest people I knew. We had so many good times together and I dearly loved her. I left St. Louis and moved back to GA in 1993, but I have thought about her many times. I know she will be missed.
