Dear Aunt Charlotte and Meatte Cousins,
I was so sad to miss Uncle Luke's funeral but I heard the relatives came from around the country. It sounds like our family tree was represented. That's the beauty and blessing of a close knit Irish Catholic family.
I have been praying ferverntly for all of you and for the soul of my dear Uncle Luke.
I am grateful to God for his long full life and I am quite sure Patrick was there to greet him.I am betting that whatever sins Uncle Luke may have to atone for (as we all do) God will take into consideration his amazing generosity and openess to life. How few people in today's society give back to God 14 souls! Uncle Luke had many great accomplishments but having such a great family had to be his best accomplishment. Of course Aunt Charlotte gets alot of the credit!
For sure, my Uncle Luke was one of a kind and no one else will ever fit his mold.
May God Bless and keep Aunt Charlotte during this time of sorrow. I will continue to pray and offer Masses for you all.
Love and Prayers,
Janet Hafernik-Houston

I can't remember a time in my life that the Meatte family wasn't part of my own. It just seemed you all were an extention of our family. Your dad was a teasured friend and will never be forgotten by us. He was like a second dad to me and probably my brothers and sisters also. He will live on though not only all of you, but all of us also.
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Love you guys

Sincerest condolences to Mrs Charlotte and all the cousins from Pat and Craig Fuller.

February 25, 2012

I first met Luke and Charlotte through Luke's mother, Ruby Meatte, when I was gathering material down in Portageville for a Knowles / O'Kelley genealogy book that I wrote in 1976.

While listening to some of Ruby's stories, I knew right away that she was a very colorful and lively little old lady!! Ruby told me that I simply MUST talk with her son, Luke, for further information on his family. When I called A-B to speak with Luke, his secretary put me through to him right away when I explained the purpose of my call.

That chat started a wonderful 36-year friendship with cousins a couple of times removed. What fun we've had and what interesting stories we've shared through the years!!

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time in your lives.

My father, Elmer Kleeschulte, was a friend of Luke and Charlotte from the AB days. They were at my wedding 40 years ago and I loved hearing stories about their kids. Dad passed away on Jan. 5th of this year at the age of 90. He also loved to party, and his grandsons slipped a Bud Select into the casket for the journey home. I last saw Luke and Charlotte 4 years ago at the funeral home when my mother passed away. You are in our thoughts and prayers. God bless you. Frances (Kleeschulte) Vomund and the entire family of Elmer and Mildred. OFallon, Mo.
