I'm a very bald bassist, and Marciano did my first head shave! I last saw him in 2011, at a club where my band was playing, and he was celebrating his birthday. A great guy, and a great barber! Unfortunately, I never got to hear him play, but it was great talking shop about being a musician when I was in his barber shop!

I met Mars in 2001 when it was my good fortune to join a company whose offices were in his building. Mars became my barber, lifetime friend and confidant over the course of the next five years before I retired. We reminisced over the years from the late 1950s, when I first went to work in downtown St. Louis about the time Mars came here from Texas, eventually taking up the trade of his father and uncles as I recall the stories. Back in those days St. Louis remained well within the ten largest cities in the country, and Cardinal Nation extended to all of Texas, and west to the Pacific. Radio was king and that entire territory was in listening range of the 50,000 clear channel Watts of Bob Hyland's KMOX, Harry Carry and Jack Buck. In the seven years since retiring, Mars remained my regular barber, and one of the joys in my life when I no longer could delay another haircut. I share the sense in the other messages that those of us who had the fortune to have Mars as our barber have a deep sense of loss and a great reverence to have been in his company for many years on our journey of life. To his wife and family I send my deepest sympathies as I do to Arthur, a valued member of his team in the barber shop.

Sorry to learn of Marciano's passing. I was a long time customer of his. I always looked forward to my half hour with him. What a great guy! We shared a love of jazz and talked about each of our travels, Boy Scout adventures and his walks on Grant Trail. Always a gentleman. May he rest in peace with the Lord. And peace to his family, of which he was so proud.

"When you coming in...I'll be here". I looked forward to seeing Marciano every four weeks or so to listen to the music he played and simply visit with him while I got the best haircut in St. Louis. God Bless and Godspeed Marciano you will be missed.

Ruth,
Den & I are so sorry to hear about Marciano. Can't believe it but he had a long road ahead of him with much suffering, and he was spared of that. Please know that Den and I are keeping you and your family in our prayers. Family is what gets us through these unbearable times and I Know Ruth that you will share their love and help. Please take care of yourself and call me when you feel up to it. Wish I were there to share a cup of black coffee with you and one, only one, scoop of vanilla ice cream. Again, please accept our sincerest sympathy and prayers.
Sincerely, Joan & Den DeManuele,

I was a customer of Marciano's for quite a number of years. I considered him more than a barber, but a true friend. He will be sorely missed. I will keep him and his family in my prayers. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord. May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

Marciano was my barber for the past several years. He was a gentleman, confidant and friend - there is a void in my life that will be difficult to fill. I am sure that Marciano will greet me when I get to to heaven.
