Vahlkamp, Marianne Hill
passed away peacefully on Friday, October 15th, 2021.
She was born October 5th, 1930 in Enid, Oklahoma to her parents Andrew M. Hill and Grace (Hott) Hill and soon moved to Brentwood, MO. Marianne graduated from Brentwood High School in 1948 and from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1980 with a Bachelor of Educational Studies degree. She was an active member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.
Marianne was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend and she will be greatly missed by her family, her many friends and the community she cared for and served.
Marianne is the beloved mother of Anne V. Hampton and adored "Grammie" to granddaughter Caitlin C. Hampton and grandson Colin C. Hampton, III. She is the loving sister of the late James W. Hill and is cherished by her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Marianne loved being active in many local organizations including Ladue Chapel, Creve Coeur Historical Commission, St. Louis Historic Buildings Commission and Brentwood Alumni Association among others. She was a founder of Whichcraft?, one of the first arts and crafts shops in the area and then went on to become the Executive Director of Talking Tapes for the Blind. She was also a volunteer with many organizations including the Missouri Botanical Garden and St. Louis Science Center and a member of many more. Marianne was active in the National Genealogical Association as our "family historian" and a devoted participant in the Memory and Aging Project at Washington University. She served generously with great purpose, kindness, wit and humor.
Marianne enjoyed many trips all over the world with family and her love of life-long learning as well as hosting many clubs with family and friends.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Parc Provence for their excellent care as well as Ladue Chapel and Heartland Hospice Care for all of their support.

My mother, Dot Roper (King) was good friends with Marianne at college and later in life when they both lived at Aberdeen Heights. Mom truly treasured Marianne´s friendship, candor, and wonderful sense of humor. May the strength and inspiration of our mother´s legacies and friendship be a source of comfort.
