With deep sorrow and enduring love, we announce the passing of Marie Lopez, who lost her courageous battle with cancer on July 3, 2025, at the age of 51.

Born on January 15, 1974, Marie was the beloved daughter of Linda Pallmann (Didion) and Julio Lopez, and a devoted sister to Julio Lopez (Lisa), David Lopez (Connie), Daniel Lopez (Kyla), and Laura Lopez (Samuel Howell). Her family was her greatest treasure, and she remained a constant source of strength and support to each of them.

Marie lived a life of purpose and compassion. She served with the Peace Corps in Kazakhstan for two years, where her caring nature and commitment to service left a lasting impact. Her career as a physician assistant was more than a profession-it was a calling. She dedicated herself fully to the well-being of her patients, combining skillful care with deep empathy and warmth.

Marie was known for her sharp wit, strong will, and a stubborn streak that often revealed her deep convictions. She stood firm in what she believed and never wavered in her principles. At the same time, she was profoundly reliable, dependable, and friendly-someone others could always count on, whether for a helping hand, a heartfelt conversation, or a perfectly timed joke.

A Celebration of Life will be held in her memory on August 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica.

Marie leaves behind a legacy of service, strength, and sincerity. She touched many lives through her kindness, conviction, and compassion. Though she is no longer with us, the love she shared and the example she set will continue to inspire all who knew her.

She will be missed beyond words and remembered always.
