Marilyn Imhof Obituary
Imhof, Marilyn Cerf 77, Springfield, MO, passed away December 21, 2005 in her home. She was born May 11, 1928 in St. Louis to the late Eugene B. Cerf and Rose B. (Muser) Cerf. Marilyn graduated from Southwest High School, Harris Teachers College, and Webster University's Masters Program, all in St. Louis. She taught grade school and later remedial math in the St. Louis Public Schools for over 23 years where she introduced many children to the computer for the first time.
She met and married Ralph K. Imhof after his return from serving in the army during WWII and while both were students at Harris. They celebrated over 56 years of marriage on June 18. Ralph and Marilyn moved to Springfield after retirement in 1988, where they made numerous dear friends, particularly through membership in various bridge groups. Marilyn was an accomplished bridge player; artist, expecially work in charcoal and oil pastels; and vocalist, having participated in the Sweet Adeline organization for a number of years. Her true avocation, however, was as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Marilyn is survived by her husband and best friend Ralph; four children, Barbara Eriksson of Toronto, Canada, Carolyn Imhof-Hoffelder, of Woodbridge, VA, Daniel Imhof and wife Ginny, of Springfield, MO, and Christine Kitsch and husband Steve, of Collinsville, IL. She is also survived by her sister Dr. Ruth Comens, with whom she enjoyed a special relationship, and her husband Dr. Phillip Comens of St. Louis, her sister-in-law Nancy Collier of St. Louis; ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.Services: A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Campbell United Methodist Church, where she and Ralph were members since 1988. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Campbell United Methodist Church, 1747 E. Republic Road, Springfield, MO 65804 or Community Hospices of America, 1465 E. Primrose, Springfield, MO 65804. Ralph wishes to express special thanks to Dr. M. Douglas Brockman, Dr. Robert Ellis, and the staff of Community Hospices for their kindness and compassionate care.
