Adderton, Marlyn Newburger Marlyn Newburger Adderton, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away on February 20, 2014 at the age of 93 with her daughters at her bedside. Wife of the late J. Walter Adderton; mother of Cathee Adderton (Bruce Zebell) of St. Louis, MO, Anne Adderton (Peter Dolan) of St. Louis, MO, and Jenny Vaughan (Michael) of Mission Hills, KS and the late John Adderton; and grandmother to Laura Corcoran (Matt), Andrew Zebell, Meghan Vaughan, Ryan Dolan, Sean Dolan and Sam Vaughan; and great grandmother to her precious Jack Corcoran. Marlyn graduated from Mary Institute in 1939 and later returned to school in her 50s to graduate magna cum laude from UMSL with a BA in Psychology. Marnie was an extraordinary woman in every sense of the word. The world is truly a better place because she was in it. She was active in the St. Louis community serving as a hospice aide for 25 years, a St. Louis Art Museum docent, a hospital volunteer and was very involved in the Girl Scouts. She founded a tutoring program at the Mitchell School and was honored with the 2010 Ageless Remarkable St. Louisans award. She was a world traveler and a life long student. Marnie was like none other and she will be terribly missed by her many friends and most of all by her family. Services: A Memorial Service will be conducted at the Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church, 9450 Clayton Rd., Ladue on Tuesday, February 25 at 2:00 p.m. Private Committal. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Horizon Academy, a school for children with learning disabilities which her daughter Jenny Vaughan helped found, 4901 Reinhardt Dr., Roeland Park, Kansas 66205, or to the St. Louis Zoo or the St. Louis Art Museum.
