Mary Colombatto Obituary
October 13, 1939 - November 15, 2024
Mary Ann Colombatto (nee Douglas), of St. Charles, MO, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024, at the age of 85. Beloved wife of the late George "Donald" Colombatto; cherished daughter of the late Henry and the late Frances Douglas (nee Penton); devoted mother of Mary "Marlene" (Keith) Gravemann, Donald "Donnie" Colombatto and Richard "Rich" Colombatto; loving grandmother of Gina (Chris) Thomas, Ryan Gravemann, Derek (Gabby Gearin) Colombatto, Danielle (Maty) Mauk, Dawson Colombatto, Domenic Colombatto and Madelyn Colombatto; treasured great-grandmother of Claire Thomas, Amber Thomas and Kason Mauk; dear sister of the late Erma (Virgil survives) Harris.
Mary, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and educator, passed away surrounded by her loving family. A proud St. Louis Cardinals fan, she served as an usher for 18 years and shared her love for the game with those around her. Her creative passions included scrapbooking, cross stitch quilts, and solving cryptoquips and word search puzzles. Mary was a dedicated teacher in the Hazelwood School District for 37 years, earning a bachelor's degree from Northeast Missouri (Truman) State University, a Master's plus 30 from Washington University, and a Reading Specialist certificate. She was a founding member of Christview Christian Church, where her faith and compassion touched many lives. She also taught Sunday School for several years.
Mary cherished her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and found joy in game shows like The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. Her warmth, humor, and love for teaching left a lasting impression on everyone she met and taught. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Mrs. Colombatto was my was my teacher for the first half of second grade. Then Jana School was opened and I was transferred. She was such a sweet woman. I cried when I had to leave her class. She will be missed.
