Sister Mary Charity Grace

Grace, Sister Mary Charity a Sister of Mercy, died at Catherine's Residence on September 26, 2007. She was born July 15, 1924 in St. Louis, MO and was baptized Mary Charity Grace. Sister Mary Charity entered the Sisters of Mercy community at Webster Groves, MO on February 2, 1945 and made her first Vows August 16, 1947 at St. Joseph's Convent of Mercy, Webster Groves, MO. She received her B.S. in Economics from Fontbonne College, St. Louis, MO on June 1, 1950. She received her M. Ed in Secondary Education from St. Louis University on June 1, 1957 and her Teaching Certificate in 1966. Her ministry included Regional Community Secretary for the Leadership Team for several years: Taught at Mount St. Mary's in Little Rock, AR for 3 years: then was Business Educator at Mercy High School and Aquinas-Mercy High School in St. Louis for a total of 18 years. Sister worked as a secretary at St. John's Mercy Skilled Nursing facility. From 2000 to December of 2006, Sister was a Volunteer in St. John's Mercy Medical Center in the ICU Waiting Room as Family Liaison when she had a light stroke. Sister retired and moved to St. Joseph's Convent in 2000 and then moved to Catherine's Residence in April 2006. Sister is survived by her sister, Anna Marie Heck of Santa Rosa, CA and her children. She also has living nieces, nephews and cousins in St. Louis, MO.Services:The wake will be in Mercy Center Chapel, 2039 N. Geyer Rd., St. Louis, MO on Friday, September 28 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be in Mercy Center Chapel on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 10 a.m. Burial Calvary Cemetery.
