I will never forget Matt. I had Academic Lab with him and also played water polo and swam with him during my cherished years at Ladue. He was a great person and dear friend. He may have been a smaller guy, but the warmth and happiness his heart spread was gigantic. I particularly remember his smile and how it would put everyone around him in a better mood no matter how stressed or frustrated they were. He was a great sport and enjoyed being around his friends. His dedication to academics and tough goals that he set for himself illustrate his motivation and determination to succeed, as well his hard work ethic. As I grow older I realize that there really aren't that many "good" people in this world. Matt was not only good, but great; and in this day and age the world needs more people like Matt. So, I, as well as the rest of the world, will miss Matt Pearlstone.

Dr. and Mrs. Pearlstone and family,

I wanted to let you know our family is praying for you. I can't understand how something like this could happen to a family who has made sacrifices their whole lives to bring precious life into the lives of those who otherwise would not experience the joys of being a parent. I could never find the words to express how sorrowful we are that you have lost your precious son. Please know you are in our prayers.

Matt,

Where to begin, Im extremely lucky to have known you since we were young spoede turtles, the days you refused to wear anything but shorts all year round and trying to set the record wearing star wars shirts everyday for who knows how long. The days we used to play basketball in your front yard on your brand new hoop which was 10 ft tall you always made me shoot at when u got to shoot at the fischer price one that was no taller than you. Middle school you you began to change finally gave up the star wars shirts and boy the brains really kicked in. high school rolled around and you were always so far ahead of most of us. i remember all the time we spent on the swim team as i flipped over the numbers as you swam the 500, it was incredible to watch you swim something i wish i could have made it that far. But the dork in you never left, always calling to play halo or to tell me about your new cell phone as we always fought to have the best one. I could go on forever to much to say here.

i will always miss you

Matt,

Something horrible has happened to a truly amazing person. I am lucky to have had the opportunity to grow up with you and watch you turn into the person that so many people admired. You were an inspiration to so many people including myself. You pushed your classmates, teammates and friends to be better at everything they did. Your intelligence and humor kept constant smiles on everyone’s faces and that will never stop. Star Wars t-shirts and the Bahamas 2005 will be memories that I will hold on to forever. Look over us and keep pushing us to be the best. You will be greatly missed by all of us and you and your family will be in our prayers. You will live on in our hearts and minds forever.

Adam Schneider

March 20, 2006

Matt,

It is hard to express what you have meant to me over the past 7 years. You had a quiet way of making sure everyone always felt included- I can’t even begin to count the number of times you called after seeing my car at Merissa’s house to make sure that we knew we were invited to your house- “PStone” would pop up on my cell phone, the big old cracked one that you used to make fun of me about. It is hard to get online now without your seemingly automatic conversation starter: “Schneider, any exciting stories for me?”

I have so many memories that I now look back on and wish I had the chance to tell you how much they mean to me. In junior high I was just about the only person who couldn’t seem to figure out how to take the square root of a number- I never thanked you for teaching me. At our after graduation party, you helped me get that Cardinal baseball I had me eye on- You simply wouldn’t let me go home without it.

You had more life in you than anyone I have ever met. So many of us looked to you for your contagious energy when we were down, and you never failed to give us support. You were supposed to be the next Bill Gates- none of us could wait to see the greatness you would accomplish.

I am grateful for the memories, and I will never forget- I cannot forget. You are physically missed by so many of us, and we hope and pray that your spirit, your brilliance, will never leave our side.

Matt-

I remember those times at your house this past summer when we just were beginning to get to know each other. We always talked about taking a boat ride around the lake outside your house. Hopefully one day when we meet again, we will be able to take that boat ride.

You were one of the smartest people that I've ever known and always so friendly to me. You are already so greatly missed.
