Angel of Hope: Two lives were lost the first week of July suddenly without warning. the hardest to mourn..RIP Mr Rice and Mitchell.. then a candlelight service where God's love and grace spoken to the very many. Priceless. the pieces fell into place. Angels brought together in heaven, sought out for a higer purpose: to bring the many together, the sharing of God's love, seeds planted, and blessings to follow. Look for the silver linings.. the ripples.. they are there!! and my goosebumps overflow...
I share my picture of my statue of "the Angle of Hope" Many years ago, I too lost my babies over the 4th of July holiday. National Share organization for mourning parents and family. My continued prayers for you and your family. God bless.

My deepest sympathy to the Rice Family for your loss. As evidenced last night at the visitation, Mr. Rice was very highly thought of and respected by all. I have never seen so many people lined up to pay their respects to a great man! The band kids and parents will miss him greatly, what a great loss to the Fox school family. You are gone, but not forgotten. Rest in Peace Mr. Rice. I know you will be playing beautiful music in heaven.

I had the distinct pleasure of being Matt's one and only student teacher at Fox. He took me in and opened his arms to me. We are very close in age so a brotherly bond developed. I would have done anything to help Matt and I look back at that particular time with great pride. His band program was finally turning the corner and everything was just magical. All of his hard work and his fingerprints were and are evident. Even with all he had done he thought of me as a lucky charm. I will never forget all he showed me and those memories i will always hold dear. Even the trip he sent me on for breakfast at Hardees, which closed the day before is something i will cherish forever. Its only fitting to wrap this up with music. Matt and I belong to the same music fraternity so Matt...time for our parting now has come. Brother goodnight. Love ya brother!

Dear Pat, and the rest of the family. It's been many years but I still remember you and Giles and Matt from Oakville Baptist. Pat, you've been thru way too much in your life. To have lost your husband and now your son. But God says He will never give us more than we can handle and I know that is true. My sympathies are with you all. Love & Prayers, Marilyn Windsor-Evans

Momma Rice, Mrs Tara Boggs and Aunt Alma: Our hearts and prayers go out to you and your family. Our family loved him in many ways. Loved to pick on him to make him smile. Make him wonder what on earth Aunt Alma told us about him during our visit with Tara. His friendship and band memories will be forever cherished in our hearts. Our hearts are saddened by his passing. His love for music lives on within the kids who passed through his bands and classes.FB is buzzing about how he will be missed. "RIP Mr Rice"
Know he was loved and cherished by those who gave him a run for his money and so many others. Feel Gods love surround you during these tough times. For there are silver linings blooming with Gods grace and love within the kids now and the ripples will continue on. Continued prayers and hugs from the Kloehn Family (Fox band booster parents, flute section leader of Fox High school Band) Rest in Peace Mr Rice!

Matt & my son were best friends in elementary school. They were also bowling buddies. We have many happy memories of those early years with the boys. They were a lot of fun to be around. Our thoughts and prayers are with Pat, Perry, & Mike.

My deepest sympathies to Mr. Rice's family. He was my daughter's favorite teacher. Teachers touch the lives of so many. No one goes into teaching for the money. It's a calling in life. I'm so thankful he answered that calling. He loved his job. I don't say that because I knew him well. I say that because it showed in every performance I saw with the Fox High School bands and I saw it in my daughter. She only had him as a teacher for one year and what an impact he made in such a short time. Thank you, Mr. Rice. You will be greatly missed.

What a wonderful, devoted man. It is truly a great loss for his family, friends, and Fox High School. The band kids will miss him more than words could ever express, but the greatest way to honor his memory is to keep the music alive.

Matt was an exceptional educator. He understood well how to teach the work ethic, cooperation, and citizenship that too often are left out of a music program. We will all miss him. I know that his legacy lives on through the hundreds of young men and women he taught. The thoughts and prayers of the Gateway Indoor family are with Matt's friends, family and the Fox music community.
