Maurice Hill Obituary

Hill, Dr. Maurice R. 88, of Edwardsville, IL, died Friday, October 12, 2007 at his home. Dr. Hill, a graduate of St. Louis University School of Dentistry, served in the Army in Europe during World War II. He practiced dentistry in Edwardsville for 43 years until retirement in 1992. He was a past president of Madison District Dental Society. He was an active member of St. Boniface Church for many years. His wife, Rita V. (Kelahan) Hill, preceded Dr. Hill in death in 2000. Dr. Hill is survived by thirteen children: M. Joseph (late Penelope) Hill of Edwardsville, IL, Maureen E. (Gordon) Levine of Chicago, IL, Dr. M. Robert (Dotty) Hill of Des Peres, MO, Thomas A. (Bonnie) Hill of Highland, IL; Rita M. (E.J.) Schwager of Waterloo, IL, Dr. James R. (Diane) Hill of Collinsville, IL, Edward P. (Kathy) Hill of Pueblo, CO, David M. (Kris) Hill of Edwardsville, IL, Dr. M. Jean (Dr. John) Schad of Shiloh, IL, Judith A. Hill and friends James Hembrough of Maryville, IL, Christopher P. (Kay) Hill of Edwardsville, IL, Dr. Gregory A. (Barb) Hill of Creve Coeur, MO, Barbara M. (Dr. Roger) Yusen of Webster Groves, MO; 39 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren. Dr. Hill is also survived by two brothers, Marvin Joseph (Gen) Hill and Dr. Robert S. (Annabelle) Hill, both of Edwardsville. His parents, Rolland and Cecelia (nee Lux) Hill, sister, Eileen (Bob) Watt, daughter-in-law Penelope A. (nee Thatcher) Hill, and grandson, Gregory J. Hill, all predeceased him.Services:In celebration of his life, visitation will be at IRWIN Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, IL on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Jeff Goeckner as celebrant. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials may be made to St. Boniface School or to Masses and may be accepted at the funeral home.
