Mr. Larkin was a retired Police Officer from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.Services: Funeral from KUTIS AFFTON Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Mon., Jan. 9, 9:30 a.m. to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church for 10 a.m. Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials to American Cancer Society or Backstoppers appreciated. Visitation Sun., 4-9 p.m.

I bartended for about 5 years and I saw Mike almost every night I worked. His first words were always, "Hiya sweetheart" followed by "What's the joke of the day?" or a joke of his own. I very rarely had a joke that he hadn't heard. I actually had to take an oath a few times to say I would not let anyone spit in his beer. He was a funny guy and these are only a few of the things I will remember about Mike. He also always made sure we left the bar safely. He was our guardian and I am grateful to have know Mike.

I remember Mike as a real honest, straight-forward, kid at Augustinian Acad. When I ran into him many years later, he hadn't changed a bit. You never had to guess what Mike was thinking. A good man.

I am sorry for your loss. Mike was a very nice guy. He always had a kind word to say to me and always had a joke for me.
