Michael Nicoletti Obituary

Nicoletti, Michael owner of Nicoletti's Steak & Pasta Restaurant and beloved friend of the community passed on September 1, 2015. He was surrounded by his family when God took him home. He was 72. Deeply devoted to his wife and family, Mike gave love and laughter freely. He enjoyed life and spent his days surrounded by his many, faithful friends and his large, loving family. He was loved, and he loved in return. He unselfishly gave his time, his ear, and his heart to anyone who needed him. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Nicoletti, who he adored, his sons Dean Nicoletti and John Kinder; his daughter Laurie Murray (nee Kinder); his sons-in-law Billy Meyers and Mike Murray; his granddaughters Jessica, Mandi, McKenzie, and Emelia; his grandson Owen; his great-grandchildren Aleigha, Kingston, Kamdyn, and Gabriella; his father-in-law Edwin Landis (Claire, wonderful mother-inlaw); his brother Ron; his sister-inlaws Barbara Olivastro, Jane Nicoletti, and Kathy Nicoletti; his brother-in-law Joe Olivastro; cousins, nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. Mike and his wife Cheryl opened Nicoletti's in 1987. For close to 30 years, they have delighted the West County community with their natural hospitality and family Italian recipes. Mike loved being at the restaurant. He loved being around people. He thrived on telling stories, listening to stories, on connecting with his patrons. Mike grew up in the City of St. Louis where he attended St. Raphael. He was born on July 12, 1943 to Frank and Jean Nicoletti. His older brother Nick (who preceded him in death), was a lifelong friend and companion and his younger brother Ron worked with him when he owned Nicoletti's Barber Shop in Frontenac. Mike loved to listen to his favorite musical artists: Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin. He loved poker night with the boys, travelingespecially to Palm Springs, gatherings with family and friends, and staying home and having a nice quiet dinner with his wife. He will be missed. Services: Memorial service at the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin, Monday, 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, St. Louis. Memorial visitation Sunday 4-8 p.m. Friends may sign the family's on-line guestbook at Schrader.com.

My deepest sympathy on the loss of Mike. I went to St Raphael's with Mike. As a sixth grader, he was really a nice guy and here we are 60 or more years later and he still is. A couple of years ago, Kathy Thomas Hazelhorst and I went to dinner at Nicoletti's. Mike was so cordial, so welcoming, and seemed glad to see two really old friends. As we caught up on year's past, I could see how proud he was of his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. I know he will be missed by all - family, friends, customers. My prayers are with you all.

Our deepest condolences to his wife and everyone in his family including the his big Restaurant Family....We have been coming there ever since they opened and we feel like Family! We have spent almost every New Years Eve. Wedding Anniversary, and Birthdays for almost 30 something years and Mr Nicoletti was always there to ring in the New Year. One of my fondest memories is him with that microphone, and singing Frank Sinatra on New Years Eve. We will miss you Mike but will remember you and your friendly smile and your warm hospitality you shared with all your patrons. You will all continue to be in our thoughts and prayers thru this difficult time.
Sincerely, Rick and Shirley Roberts and Family~

7 years ago I met one of the most kindest and sincere men that I have ever had the pleasure to know. He didn't know me, but that didn't matter. He welcomed me with open arms and a kiss on each cheek and instantly made me feel like family. He & Cheryl both employed me when I needed it & what a fun ride that was! My heart is truly breaking for the family members Mike loved so deeply and for the friends who's lives he touched so dearly. Mike was a very special man and only one like him! I adored and admired him to the fullest, there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for my family & I truly feel blessed and very special to have known him. He will forever be missed, but that infectious smile will forever be in my heart. I love you Cheryl, hold on to those wonderful memories.

Dear Cheryl and family:
Joan and I are much richer having known Michael and Cheryl over the last many years. A trip to your restaurant was always a delight, and Michael's hug for us both was a treat that we not only anticipated, but looked forward to.
Michael will be missed, a lot. God only made one Michael Nicoletti, and God got it right.
God's Love always has met and always will meet every human need. Your needs will be met until you again join Michael in the hereafter. Thank God for that promise.
Love,

Cheryl, I worked with you at TWA and share your grief at losing your life partner and love. It was just a year last week for me....a very hard year but it does somehow get easier with time. What was comforting for me was one of his old flannel shirts that still held his smell...that I kept hanging on the bathroom door and talked to and still do. Just take it one day at a time. May God bless you with many loving memories and ease your loss day by day.

Cheryl,
My sincerest sympathies to you and your family during the loss of your dear husband. Mike was a friend to everyone and so enjoyed meeting with each of your loyal patrons and reliving life's precious moments. He was a good friend to Rich and was so kind to my family when he passed away, providing a welcome haven for his farewell dinner.
Your family will remain in my prayers as you struggle to go on without his daily presence. He is still close by and will be remembered fondly as one who made a difference!
Most sincerely,

Mike was a great man. Although I didn't get to see him much these past few years he still impacted my life while I was growing up. He gave me a job when I was 16 and made me feel like family the 5 years I worked at Nicolettis. He will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to Cheryl and the entire family. Rest in Peace Mike.

We are so sorry of Mikes passing. You and Mike are like family to us and have enjoyed all of the conversation and stories. Fourteen years ago was our first time going to Nicolettis. We were excited to find out we lived across the street from you. This is when our friendship began. Cheryl keep your love deep because that is what Mike had for you and showed the world daily. We love you and Mike so very much. May God keep Mike as an angel in heaven just as he was one on earth.

Dear Nicoletti Family, So sorry to hear about your loss. My husband had known Mike a lot longer than I, especially since he would go to his barber shop and hang with him and his brother. I was introduced to Mike by Don and I found that Mike was a very true friend and person. Just a down-to-earth guy. Such a lovely man. Don and I know he's at peace now with our Heavenly Father, and some day, we will all be together again. Our prayers are with the Nicoletti Family.

Mrs. Nicoletti-as my husband is living each day with stage 4 cancer there is a special name that keeps us smiling 'Nicoletti's.' We first met at Nicolettti's six years ago and my husband proposed to me there with our waitress bringing my ring as dessert. Your husband was always so kind to us and I admired his love for you. Stay strong with your memories and the wonderful life you shared together. My prayers are with you and your family.
