Miriam Sohn Obituary

Sohn, Miriam (nee Sarasohn), 85, of Boca Raton, FL passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2015. Mrs. Sohn was born and raised in Clayton, MO. She married Harvard Sohn in 1953 and moved to Herrin, IL where she resided until permanently retiring to Florida in 1995. Mrs. Sohn was a graduate of Washington University and a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was a tireless fundraiser for causes like the Jewish Community, the American Cancer Society and the Herrin Civic Center. She was a bridge life master. Mrs. Sohn is survived by her son Barry Sohn; daughter Nancy Sohn (Mike Simon); and son Bruce (Julia) Sohn; and grandchildren Dr. Ashley (Aaron) Higashi, Spencer Sohn, Dan Simon and Ben Simon; preceded in death by her husband, Harvard Sohn and her brother, Sanford Sandy Sarasohn. Services: A graveside ceremony will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at United Hebrew Cemetery at 7855 Canton Ave, University City, MO 63130. The family suggests that donations be made to the Dan/Rose and Harvard/Miriam Sohn Fund at Herrin City Library, 120 N. 13th Street, Herrin, IL 62948-3233.
