Paul Kopsky Obituary

Kopsky Sr., Paul William

Paul William Kopsky, Sr., passed away with the sacraments on May 6, 2021 at the age of 82. Loving husband of Alice J. Kopsky (Swekosky); devoted father of Paul Kopsky, Jr. (Nancy), Dr. Christine Kopsky-Samuel (Gordon), and Matt Kopsky (Mary); cherished grandfather of Claire, MaryKate, Caroline Kopsky; Ellen, Livia, and William Samuel; Colin, Cady, Cameron, and Chloe Kopsky; dear brother of the late John P. Kopsky, Jr., beloved son of the late Ellen and John P. Kopsky; proud uncle, and dear friend to many.

Paul graduated from CBC High School in St. Louis in 1957. He received a degree from Creighton University in Omaha, NE in 1960 and a J.D. from Washington University School of law in 1963. He then served his country as an Army Intelligence officer.

Paul practiced law for 55 years with the majority of those years in Chesterfield. Paul's love for the legal profession was only exceeded by his love for family. Paul was an active member of the Chesterfield community and served on various boards.

Paul was a dedicated father, brother, and son. Without a doubt, he would list his proudest accomplishments to be his family, children, and grandchildren. Paul loved to laugh, tell a joke, smile and share a story. Paul loved coaching, teaching his children and was eager to offer his guidance. He was always in the audience shedding a tear of pride for his children and grandchildren. Paul was deeply private, yet thoroughly enjoyed a party. Paul became an avid reader of the Bible and routinely participated in Bible study groups.

Services: The family will be hosting a celebration of life Mass at St. Alban Roe Catholic Church (2001 Shepard Road, Wildwood, Mo) Saturday June 5, 2021 at 10:30 am with visitation starting at 9:30 am. Paul's body was donated to Washington University's School of Medicine and Research. In lieu of flowers, please donate to his alma maters of CBC High School or Creighton University (Omaha, NE).

I helped Paul from time-to-time with some of his clients in his law practice. He was a good lawyer and an even better person. I will miss him.

I had the pleasure of knowing Paul as his hearing practioner. He always came in with a smile and always asked about my oldest son, who is in the Navy. We caught up on all of the latest news with our families and he was extremely proud of his kids and grandkids. Sending prayers to all. He will be missed.

I had the pleasure of working on occasion with Paul, he was a fine man and I enjoyed every minute of his time. He truly enjoyed his family and his career in that order. Our heart goes out to the entire Kopsky family.

Our prayers go out to you, Alice, and the family as you celebrate Paul's life. Sixty years ago, on June 17th, Paul stood beside us at St. Joseph's church in York, Nebraska as we were joined in our marriage. He touched our lives and we grew.
