Mr. Paul Sage, my father-in-law, who grew up during the Great Depression, embodies what it is to be an American. He inspired me these forty-three years I have known him, as he lived a life of simple devotion to his loved ones, to honest hard work, to continual self-education, and to his country. With patience and persistence he pulled through the hardships of life undaunted. I will remember fondly his enjoyment of working on cars, his stories of his road trips out West as a young man, and the family celebrations of Sanny Claus. His inquisitiveness about the everyday happenings of life and compassion for others were exemplary. I will cherish his memory the rest of my life. May God give us all strength and wisdom to get through this difficult time.
