Penny Stewart

1962 - 2023

Penny Jo "PJ" Stewart (née Baxter) was welcomed into the Lord's embrace on September 21st, 2023 at the age of 61 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

She was born on September 10th, 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late James R Baxter and the late Donna Guinn. She attended Windsor High School and graduated in 1980.

Growing up, PJ was a friend, a cheerleader, and a little rebellious. Many of these stories are infamous and many more have likely gone to her grave. As an adult, PJ never lost her love for life whether it be at friends and family gatherings or getting reprimanded as a field-trip chaperone for laughing at inappropriate times with the other chaperones.

With numerous longtime friends, PJ was loved for her laugh, her kindness, and her giving heart.

PJ never stopped fighting. No matter how poorly she felt, she was always there for those she loved. Her children were always her priority. She was the best mom they could have asked for.

PJ is survived by her children, Lauren "Sweetpea" Marie and Kollin "Sunshine" Lee Stewart; her brother, JR Baxter and his wife Lynn; her sister, Michelle Ponce and her husband Jerry; her sister, Dori Russo and her husband Todd; her step-mother, Ardie Baxter; her grandcat, MooMoo; her granddogs, Bacchus and Louie; and her 7 nieces and nephews.

There will be a celebration of PJ's life next year. Further details will be provided at a later date.
