Peter was my neighbor in the 1980's in Bloomington, Indiana. He was quirky and warm, and one of the best neighbors ever. We had an open door where we could show up unannounced at each other's houses. He was then a struggling writer, so he turned off his electricity in the summer to save money. But in his infinite hospitality, he'd always invite us over for warm beer... I think it was Old Milwaukee. Not gourmet, but the company was great. RIP, Peter, and sorry I didn't follow up to tell you how happy I was that you got some recognition for your excellent writing.
