Snyder, Richard Stephen

of Webster Groves, Missouri, 84 years old, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on November 16th, 2022. He graduated in top of his Lima High School class in 1956 and top third in his class from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1962. He was awarded the Ex-Cell-O scholarship; named to the Sigma Sigma, Metro and Cincinnatus honoraries; served as President of the Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity, President of the Interfraternity Council and was named the campus newspaper's Mahan Award as Outstanding Senior. He went on to achieve his Juris Doctor degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1965 where he ranked in the top 3rd of his class.

Following graduation from law school, as a member of the Missouri Bar Association since 1965, Richard practiced general civil law independently and with several firms in the state of Missouri in St. Louis City and Clayton doing work including problem solving in the areas of estate and tax planning, estate planning, trials & appeals, business acquisitions, corporate and real estate. His work experience included founding Richard S. Snyder Law Offices; Biggs & Hensley, P.C. law firm; partner with Gage & Tucker Law firm working with his uncle Hon. Robert O. Snyder and Hon. Christopher S. (Kit) Bond (former Missouri Governor and U.S. Senator; partner with McCarter, Snyder & Greenley; and partner with Rassieur, Long, Yawitz & Schneider. He was appointed by Governor 'Kit' Bond as one of five original members of the Missouri State Environmental Improvement Authority. on and served on City of Webster Groves Library Board as President.

Richard was especially close to his long-time fraternity friends from U of Cincinnati he called the 'Small Group'. He was active with several St. Louis area church and social groups including attending the Unity Christ Church, he enjoyed his friends in the singles group, The Focus Group and the 'Soup & Scripture' group at Webster Hills Methodist church. Over the years he was also actively involved in: The Webster Hills United Methodist Church, singing in the Chancel Choir, as a Trustee and member of various committees; Webster Groves Historical Society; President of John Marshall Republican Club; WG Lions Club; and member of the Estate Planning Council of St. Louis.

Richard was a caring grandfather, father, husband, brother, and son always sharing his perspectives on positive thinking and connections to God and religion as a way of living a better life, sharing messages of encouragement and love often with his family and friends. He loved to join his family at sporting events watching them play and was big fan of the St. Louis baseball Cardinals. He lived an active lifestyle enjoying tennis, golf, softball, jogging, swimming, and classical music. He was the proud father of 3 children, Stephen 'Steve' (Kara), Richard 'Rick' (Michele) and Amy Snyder, all from a prior marriage; and grandfather to Kristopher 'Kit', Kasey and Robert 'Robbie,' Steve and Kara's children. Preceded in death by his parents Richard S. Snyder and Florence (nee Balliet) Snyder. He is survived by his sister Marlene Skinner (nee Snyder), Tom Skinner nephew, and numerous cousins, other relations, and friends.

Services: A memorial ceremony and celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd from 1:00 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. at the Webster Hills Methodist Church located at 698 West Lockwood in Webster Groves, MO 63119 (314-961-3168); followed by reception at church. The family would also like to welcome family and friends to a Visitation on Monday November 21st from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Bopp Chapel Funeral Home located at 10610 Manchester Rd; Kirkwood, MO. 63122; (314-965-7680).
