Nicole, there are no words that can adequately convey my thoughts and feelings to you at this time. It saddens me to think of you without Bob, and Bob without you. I clearly remember the day when Carl Masthay and I witnessed the two of you getting married. It was so right and perfect for you to be together. If I can do anything to lessen your sorrow, I will.

My Dear Friend Nicole,
My deepest Sympathy to you. Bob was such a special person; you and he were the perfect fit. It's not easy to say good bye to the one we love, but time does heal all wounds and I pray that yours will heal rapidly. I am here for you if you need me.

Dear Nicole,
I will remember what a kind man Uncle Bob was and how adventurous he was with his love of travel. His photos and stories were fascinating as a kid. What an impressive career he had as an architect. And later in life it was so impressive that he took dance lessons. May the fun memories you had together bring great comfort. I will really miss him!

Nicole,
To a very kind uncle who was always great to me. I remember Bob the most when he got together with his brothers (my dad Vincent and Frank). They where like a comedy team poking fun at each other and stuff which made me smile and laugh. I will miss him dearly!

Nicole being my co-worker most every business day for over 20 years, I cannot think of Bob without bringing her to mind. That link is appropriate not only because of their marriage. In ways important to living life, they are twinned: both exemplars of low-key, no flash, no dash, stability; both show nothing but tolerance and kindness toward each other and all others; no gratuitous, unkind word passes either of their mouths; neither objecting to any normal human foible of each other or anyone else (except perhaps me, but they kept that hidden). Both express love quietly, unobtrusively, and non-judgmentally by their presence and caring for each other.

It has been my deep pleasure and that of many others to know both. The reft from the loss of this mortal coil is partially compensated by the space his spirit and example fills and by Nicole's continuing presence.
