Robert A. Salmo, born Dec. 31, 1952, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025. Dear husband of Barbara Lenderink Salmo, father of Michael (Kathryn), Daniel (Ellen), and Brian (Caitlin). Dear Grandpa of Luke, Joe, Violet, Mae, Louise, Genevieve, and John. Dear brother of Bill, Ed, Tom, Pat, Jim, Joe, Diane, Maria, and Linda. Bob was a devoted professional that took pride in all his work, including as a volunteer and president of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Bob will be missed as a committed family member, friend, and mentor that practiced patience, kindness, and humor.
On Friday, July 11, visitation will be at Kutis Funeral Home at 10151 Gravois Road, Affton, MO between 8:00 and 8:30am, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery at 9:00am, and a memorial Mass at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church at 7622 Sutherland Ave., Shrewsbury, MO, at 10:00am. Reception immediately following in the St. Michael's Parish Center.

While I am crushed by the loss of my amazing godfather and the uncle I was always closest to, I am comforted knowing he is back with my dad. They've been separated for over 15 years and I'm sure are having an amazing reunion.
Aunt Barb, Mike, Dan, and Brian - I wish nothing more than for you to feel love and peace during such a difficult time. Uncle Bob was an amazing human, and his legacy will live on in you 4 and his grandkids. I am here for you any time you need an understanding and empathetic ear.
Per ardua ad astra... Requiescat in pace.

The obit describes a man who practiced patience, kindness, and humor. That's indeed the Bob Salmo I knew from his days at SSM Health. I would add empathy to the list as he was always more concerned for others rather than himself. A true person of faith. RIP Bob and condolences to his family and those lucky enough to know him.

Bob and I were friends for 64 years from the time we went to St. Anthony of Padua grade school in St. Louis, and later to the Franciscan seminary, and I never knew him to say an unkind word or to show any meanness. He was funny and had a laid-back approach to life that relaxed everyone around him. Despite his many health issues, he remained as cheerful as possible, no doubt helped by the support his wife Barb and the family gave him over the years. A wonderful man. Rest in peace, my dear friend!
