While I am crushed by the loss of my amazing godfather and the uncle I was always closest to, I am comforted knowing he is back with my dad. They've been separated for over 15 years and I'm sure are having an amazing reunion. The obit describes a man who practiced patience, kindness, and humor. That's indeed the Bob Salmo I knew from his days at SSM Health. I would add empathy to the list as he was always more concerned for others rather than himself. A true person of faith. RIP Bob and condolences to his family and those lucky enough to know him.

Bob and I were friends for 64 years from the time we went to St. Anthony of Padua grade school in St. Louis, and later to the Franciscan seminary, and I never knew him to say an unkind word or to show any meanness. He was funny and had a laid-back approach to life that relaxed everyone around him. Despite his many health issues, he remained as cheerful as possible, no doubt helped by the support his wife Barb and the family gave him over the years. A wonderful man. Rest in peace, my dear friend!
