I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I just found out today from Ron, Sr., so unbelievable of his short time here but God obviously needed him home! The good news is we will see him again, one day soon! Ron, Jr. is your guardian angel and he is always with you everywhere you go. Their love for us never leaves us. It is with us throughout eternity! Although I didn't meet you, Charlene, I knew Ron, Jr. when he and Patrick helped me move a long time ago. He was so funny and upbeat and made my move, fun instead of dreadful. I will pray for your family that our LORD keeps you wrapped in his arms and holds you close to HIS heart. You all will be in my daily prayers! May our LORD Jesus Christ be with you always! Saundra

Charlene,
Just this weekend I was reminising with friends about Mikey and his ball handling skills. Right behind that I was told of Ron's passing. It stunned me all weekend. I am so sad. I think of how loving your family is and I can't think to do anything but stare, blank, into space. There are no words. Your family is loved by so many. Know that I think of your family often and you are in my prayers.

To the Barlow Family,
I worked with Ron for 6 years at Purina, until I left 3 years ago. Since then, every random meeting at the pool at the J, or on the sidelines of our kids sports events, has been met with a firm "great to see you again" handshake, and lots of laughs. I will remember Ron as a solid guy, with great enthusiasm for life. He will be dearly missed.

Dear Barlow and Reed Families,
I was lucky to grow up on the same street with Ronnie (and all the Barlows) ---We attended Lourdes together and while he was in the smart class, he was always very sweet to me.
Seriously, he always made me feel as though he was very happy to bump into to me as college students up at Krueger's or when visititing our parents who still live across the street from each other. Ron was the wrong guy for this deal. He was in love with his wife, nuts about his kids, proud of nieces and nephews, a thoughtful son, fair coach, good at his job and overall a totally decent guy. Guys like Ron --and there are damn few of them--should live 100 years not 43. This a inexplicable loss. It is one that I don't know that I will ever understand. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Take Care, celeste

Dearest Charlene, Jeffrey, Tommy, Michael and Lizzy--Our hearts are heavy with grief as we try to understand God's plan in taking a true angel from this earth. Though we know your family only through baseball-Ron was one of those people who one would say "what a true family man". I still picture him carrying Lizzy on his shoulders(as she talked non-stop about the new puppy Santa would be bringing in six months!) as he ran from field to field to never miss a part of his kids' lives (as Charlene was driving up in their new van with the remaining son!) A real gentleman, a breath of fresh air and role model to all. God has certainly chosen the perfect angel to complete His season. We consider ourselves fortunate to have been touched by your family. May God wrap you in His arms as you grieve. Our love-Loren, Sharon, Elizabeth and Gabriel Ditch

Barlow Family,
My sincere condolences over the loss of Ron. I knew him from his very first days at Purina, on the West Coast, then when he came into HQ in St. Louis. Always an up-beat, "can do" guy, someone you just wanted to be friends with. He will be missed.
My profound sympathies to you all. While we don't know each other, I knew Ron well, and unfortunately time has separated us. I am sorry I am unable to attend the memorial service for him, but he and you, his family are in my thoughts and prayers.
And, as dark as this may sound, having lost my own father at an early age (his and mine) I know better days are ahead for you all. May you all keep a loving, lasting memory of your husband and father in you thoughts for the rest of your lives.
May God bless each of you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. What an incredible loss. Ron was not only an incredible family man but also a great friend. Although Ron was one of my best friends in high school, we didn't regularly get together in recent years. However, every time I would see Ron it was like things never changed. He was always a great friend and was always smiling.
I will cherish the memory of spending time with Ron and Charlene just a few weeks ago at our DeSmet 25th reunion. Not many alumni showed, but it didn't matter because Lyn and I got to spend time with the two of them. For that I am very thankful.
God bless Ron and the Barlow and Reed families. He's up there still smiling and will watch over all of you.
Take care,

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Ron's family and friends.
It's been nearly a decade since I've had contact with Ron, but I thought of him from time to time, and wondered how his life had progressed. In reading the postings here, it's clear that he was every bit as good a person as he was when I knew him, and passed those traits on to his family. He was a hard person to forget, and an easy person to admire.
I still remember when he invited me to the "Everyone's a Barlow" gathering over 20 years ago, and I think the title was appropriate. Ron made his friends feel like family, and that is a rare quality that I will miss greatly. I feel privileged to have known him.

We have many happy memories of Ron. Spending many summers at the baseball field with Tommy and Michael on our son's teams. Ron was always running from one game to another and trying to make sure he saw as much of each childs game as possible. At times I think he was two places at once with Charlene calling on the phone to give him updates on the game he was not able to attend.
His quick wit and great sense of dry humor had us laughing constantly.
He was taken from us too soon, however while he was here he lived life to the fullest. We will miss him dearly, the world was a better place with Ron Barlow in it. Our heart goes out to the family.
We will pray for you.

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of Ron. I can say that in the short time I have known Ron, he earned my respect and friendship. He was always a true gentleman and made you feel great just being around him. I know how dedicated he was to his family and his deep love for sports. In the one year I had the privilege of coaching Tommy it was obvious the great upbringing he had received by Ron and Charlene. I have coached hundreds of young men over the years and Tommy was without question the best mannered and one of the hardest working. These traits come directly from Ron and Charlene. TO MY BUDDY RON, AND THE BARLOW & REED FAMILIES:
I will remember Ron as an extraordinary person - great friend, great family man, great co-worker, and great role model to all. Ron seized each day to bring love, laughter, and life itself to all those he came in touch. So many wonderful memories have passed through my mind from the years I've been blessed by his friendship. These go back to our days in high school at DeSmet; summers at the ballpark during our college years, and yes, Ron was a great bartender at Clarks near SLU during those years sharing with everyone the greatness of his spirit; the night golf tournament at his bachelor party in Innsbrook; and of course his marriage to the most beautiful wife and mother he could ask for who together have brought into this world four beautiful children. The memories go on and on from raking leaves at Ron and Charlene's first house they bought in Glendale, MO to their first dog they adopted from Purina farms; there are other special memories when we lived close by in Southern California as Purina co-workers, hanging out at the beach, and sailing with his family (then Jeff and Tom at the time). I used to laugh watching Ron change diapers (I was single at the time). Ron was a family man; God and Family were his first priorities. During my single years, I used to have to call his wife for permission to have Ron join me for a night on the town. Charlene honored our friendship by allowing him to go. Ron was a selfless, caring, and generous friend from helping fundraise for charity events (Boys Hope Girls Hope) to helping me through difficult times. He even went as far as to help me find the engagement ring for my wife...which of course cemented his role as a groomsman in my wedding. These are just some of the memories of my buddy, Ron. As I reflect, my deepest sympathies and prayers are with the Barlow and Reed family during this time. I am grateful for the memories I have of Ron and through these memories, he is still bringing love, laughter, and life. His legacy and spirit will never die. Love, Joe Harrison

Charlene, Jeffery, Thomas,Michael and Elizabeth,
My simple written words will never come close to expressing the loss I know you're feeling. When I heard about Ron I was just stunned. I had to sit down and cry. It's hard to understand this. And as I struggle with it, I will find solace in knowing Ron is in a better place with the Lord our Savior. It is still so hard though. I'll just try to convince myself that God must have wanted another angel in heaven, because he has certainly taken one from all of us. The world is a better place with guys like Ron Barlow in it. He was such a good person and wonderful human being. There was no one who didn't love Ron. When I used to see him at card parties, he'd open his arms and call "Pumpkin" and I'd call back "BooBoo" and we'd man hug. I loved his smile and his humor and laughter. Ron was the real deal, the genuine article; just a good guy. We will all miss him dearly.
Please draw stregth from your faith, family and friends during these hard times. You have my deepest and most sincere condolences. Please know I have you all in mt heart and in my prayers.
