Ronald Moore Obituary

Moore, Ronald J. "Ron"

Born into Eternal Life, Saturday, November 1, 2025.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald J. "Ron" Moore, loving husband, devoted and protective father, trusted mentor, and cherished friend to many, whose life-long professional achievements in the fields of aviation and aerospace engineering were surpassed only by his selfless love, concern, and commitment to others.Ron was born on May 12, 1936 in Springfield, Illinois. His fascination with airplanes began on his family's farm, where as a young boy he would whittle models of the planes that flew overhead and imagine what their hangars and runways would look like. That childhood wonder developed into a distinguished career in aviation that spanned decades. Over the last 26 years of his career, Ron played key roles in building airports across the United States, shaping the very landscapes where others' dreams would take flight.Ron often joked that when his time came, he would be "building airports for St. Peter." Those who knew him know that Heaven's airfields will surely be in excellent hands.A graduate of Washington University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Ron lived by two "country values" that guided every step of his life: 1. Hard work is the key to your future. 2. Truth and honesty are more important than money.Ron's distinguished aviation career began as State Airport Engineer for the Missouri Division of Commerce and Industrial Development under Governor Warren Hearnes. From there he held influential positions with Lambert St. Louis International Airport, Ozark Air Lines, TWA and retired as Vice President and Director of Sverdrup's Aviation Center of Expertise.Ron was the beloved husband of Ampy Kollman-Moore; father of Heidi (John) Hawkins and Maegan Miro; grandfather of Joey and Lara Miro and Grace and Maggie Hawkins. He was uncle to Kathryn Marie Quinn; brother-in-law to Mrs. Sean P. Quinn (Beatriz), Rafael Gomez (Mrs. Julia Gomez), and Mrs. Terrence Tallent (Cristina).Services: Visitation will be held at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 15642 Clayton Road, Ellisville, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 10am - 11am followed by Mass at 11am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Wildwood. In lieu of flowers, Ron's wish is that friends "invest their money soundly in a low-fee mutual fund like the Vanguard S&P 500" - while remembering the Corporal Works of Mercy toward the needy and less fortunate. As a service of the SCHRADER Funeral Home and Crematory, friends may sign the family's online guestbook at Schrader.com.

Dearest Ampy and family. So sorry for your loss. Ron was a great neighbor and a special friend. He always had a smile and a welcoming hello - especially when we got his favorite chocolate brownies with nuts. He was a very smart and wise man. He will truly be missed. My prayers will continue for all of you. Hugs

Ampy and family, our condolences to you on Ron’s passing. He was a wonderful man and I’m glad that we had the opportunity to know himespecially in his later years when he had the wisdom to advise low-fee mutual funds even if you were talking about the weather or country living. We have you, Ron and your family in our thoughts.
