I was a patient of Dr Wilbois in 1982 and 1983. I had seen 3 gynecologists prior in order to attempt to conceive. Dr Wilbois was the first doc who had given me hope. He was caring, kind and encouraging. I remember his hospital visit after delivering my son. He sat on the edge of my bed and we BS’d about health insurance and life. I am so grateful to have met him and am so sorry to hear of his loss. Sending white light and love to him, his family and loved ones.

This is just heartbreaking! Dr. Wilbois was not only my OBGYN he was also a friend! I often tell him how awesome his bedside manner was and would just smile at me.
Dr. Wilbois was truly a gift from God! He delivered my first born Sommer and he saved her life!! She was a emergency C-section due to fetal distress!! He knew exactly what to do and he acted fast. By the time I was pregnant with my second baby he had already stopped practicing OB and was just doing gynecology! I cried to him to deliver my second daughter Ashlee and he said just for you I will assist with your delivery with the new doctor which was a female OBGYN he was training to take some of his patients. I have nothing but good things to say and he will truly be missed!!! I love you Dr. Wilbois. ❤

Today we have the best kid a parent could ever hope for all thanks to him. What a wonderful man he was. My sincerest condolences.

I am so sad to read this. Dr. Wilbois gave me my three beautiful children. He stuck with me through years of treatment and laughed with me that mine was the second largest file in his office. (His family will know who takes the honor of being first.) He was warm, honest, tenacious, and always willing to listen. His laugh rang throughout his office and always put everyone at ease. Godspeed, Dr. Wilbois; you’ve earned your rest.

So much to say about my favorite doctor! I went to see him after having a long 3 day labor with my first born and had a lot of anxiety about having my 2nd. He assured me that he wouldn't put me through another experience like that. Of course, he started the delivery of my daughter with one of his goofy jokes, and the delivery was quick and easy. I continued to be his patient for the rest of his career! I was one of his Golden Girls after going into menopause. Every appointment started with a corny joke!! I never dreaded having an appointment with Dr. Wilbois! The morning after my dad died, I found a large lump in my breast and he had me come in immediately to assure me that it was a cyst and treated me that day! He was the only doctor I had who would bring me into the office after every exam for a follow up talk. He helped me tremendously with trying to find ways to alleviate my migraines and he enabled me to live a more productive life because of this assistance. Dr. Wilbois wasn't just an excellent doctor! He was a caring, funny and sweet human being! I don't think he ever treated anyone like a stranger. He's probably in heaven right now, telling his silly jokes! To his wife and family, I am so sorry for his absence in your lives!!

Hi Ron,

I am the 3rd son of Jose Hernandez and Val Solyman, David. I will always have my fond memories of Christmas parties in your house and relaxing weekends at your lakehouse. I imagined a day where I would find a way to contact you again. I miss you. I have thought of considerably since we left St. Louis is 2002. And I will never forget you.

I wish peace to your wife Carol and I hope she is well. I love you guys very much.

Awe! So sad and shocked to see this in the paper! Dr. Wilbois was my doctor in the early 2000s and it seems like yesterday that I saw him and he was such a wonderful human being to talk to! I would like to extend my condolences to Dr Wilbois's family. It was with sadness that I found his obituary in the Sunday paper this weekend. It was many years ago that I worked with Dr Wilbois and he was never forgotten. I met him as a resident while I was a student at Barnes School of Nursing. It was doctors like him that helped form my love for labor and delivery. I worked with him in the Barnes Labor and Delivery unit from 1968 to the end of 1972. I continued to work in Labor and Delivery for over 40 years. He also administered my caudal anesthesia (precursor to epidural anesthesia) on my first delivery in 1969. You never forget the ones who take care of you when you deliver you baby. Again, my condolences to the family.

Carol, Kim, and Kristy - I am so saddened to hear of your loss. Dr. Wilbois impacted so many families and individuals with his ideal combination of technical knowledge, skill, and kindness. The size of my family (and blessings) doubled thanks to those God-given gifts!
My dad, a medical colleague and friend, enjoyed his company on several fishing trips (one even included grandsons)!
He will be greatly missed, but he has left a wonderful legacy.
